I know I know, seems a bit daft discussing hygiene regimens with a part of society normally seen as not grasping the concept of soap and water.

However, I just bunged on some deodorant, and it got me thinking about what peoples anti-stench preference and defence might be.

Recently, I've gone from spray on Deodorant back to Roll On, and I am finding the Roll On gives me much better protection, seemingly because I know I have covered every last bit of my stinking pits. I only ever hold truck with anti-perspirant stuff, as those body sprays are merely worthless masking agents. If I wish to smell like a Poofs Parlour, I have some very nice C K Be in a bottle which is less overpowering, better smelling, and well, just plain better.

But aside from that, Gentlemen of Dakka, how do you keep the dreaded stinkies at bay in general? How often do you brush your teeth? How often do you bath/shower? (I bath every few days, more if I feel a bit grotty). Do you use hair care products, or just plain old shampoo?

Totally superfluous thread, but a topic I don't think we've ever discussed before.

Teeth brushing: Every night before sleep, plus before any time I want particularly fresh breath.
Bathing: I'm something of a special case, since I work in a pool. If I don't want to smell like chlorine, I shower every time I get out of the water, which depending on the week is 1-2 times a day. Shampoo only on the last time I'll be in the pool each day, though. When I have time off it's still a daily occurrence for me to hop in the shower.
Deodorant: Solid deodorant, at the moment I use 'mitchum' brand with the scent of 'marine'.
Shampoo/hair products: I use regular anti-dandruff shampoo these days. Until about a month ago I had long, flowing hair that went halfway down my back. When I had it I would use Fructis shampoo and then conditioner afterwards, with an ~ fifteen minute hair brushing and drying ritual. Nowadays it's short, so I just dry and go.

Unfortunately I've developed Aquagenic Urticaria, so I shower about once a week now >.<, which really sucks, because i do enjoy a nice hot shower. Now though all it does is make me miserable afterwards, sometimes as long as 4 hours of constant itching.

Shower every day, use spray on anti-perspirant to keep the smells at bay. Brush my teeth every morning and at night time permitting. I hate smelling so its rare i break that routine.

I never use anti-perspirant. I know I sweat, but there's a difference between honest sweat and stale unwashed sweat B.O. funk.

See, I have long hair halfway down my back, but I don't bother with conditioner. Apart from the various split ends caused by having avoided the Barbers for the best part of three years, it's in excellent condition.

I feel that certain products, like Conditioner, are something of a swizz. All it does is coat the hairs in what I would call a chemical gunk, and whilst said chemical gunk does indeed have a positive effect on the hair, long term it means you have to keep using it as your hair never gets healthy due to the aforementioned chemical gunk coating it! If you can put up with unruly hair for a couple of months, I heartily reccomend ditching it to see what happens!

I have also been known to dye my hair and beard back to black, on account of I don't like having this many grey hairs

Well, I chopped off all of my hair (and sent it in to be made into a child's wig. Which only seems creepy if you think of it right) so nowadays I don't condition it.

What I found, with conditioner, was that my hair was immediately more pleasant. It both felt and behaved in a nicer fashion. Strangely enough, the conditioner helped it to be less unruly. It never felt 'coated in a chemical gunk' but I noticed definite improvements immediately. Though I can certainly understand that it's not for everyone.

@Kilkrazy: That's a good point about the difference between 'sweat' and 'stale B.O.' I like having antiperspirant because then I have a default smell that's pleasant. I still end up sweating, but for times when I'm not sweaty yet, I smell nicer than normal.

I tend to shower twice a day as my job is very messy (printing engineer) I use whatever flavour of Lynx that is on offer. I shave my hair off because I find it nothing but an annoyance, however i do shampoo my scalp every couple of days (normaly use head and shoulders).
I stoped using the Lynx deoderant as I found it was irratating my armpits so now use an Addidas spray which has a much less overpowering smell and doesn't turn my skin red.
I don't shave using a razor because it irratates my skin too much, I use an old pair of hair clippers set on 0 which keeps the stubble at bay (this drives the girlfriend mad as I also used to use them on the dog when it was still alive).
When I am trying to get in the girlfriends good books, or out for the evening I slap on a bit of the Hugo Boss she brought me back from her last holiday in the states.
Normaly I brush my teeth twice a day, being a giant child I still love the three stripes Aquafresh!

I shower once a month, I spray Axe on myself before I go out in the morning. I do wash my hair once a week when gunk starts building up in it.

Serious answer:
I shower three times a day. Once in the morning, once after working out and a third time at night. I use a cleanser with a luffa and a body scrub with a poof. I also have a coconut butter exfoliating wash for the face. I don't wash my hair during the second shower and I have two conditioners, a vitalizing green tea one for the morning and a moisturizing one for the evening so my hair doesn't dry out. I shave every day using oil. Before I go to sleep I also apply a citrus facial lotion. I use deodorant during the day, and a cologne if I go out at night.

I usually bath every other day, but when it's been particuly warm or grubby I've taken to showering every day. i use spray deodrant, but I'll probably go back to roll-on or pretty much the same reason as the OP. I'll shampoo and conditioner my hair, I hate it feeling greasy.

I get phobic about brushing my teeth and shower daily. I am one of the fortunate ones that doesn't have to wear deoderant because I don't tend to get funky.

I use an antiperspirant & deodorant gel because I sweat way too easy without it, especially since I spend too much time outdoors in a desert, but I don't tend to get BO if I skip it, just wet. Have two kinds of cologne handy if I have to go somewhere where it is needed to wear that kind of stuff (keep a hairbrush, some gel and some cologne at work for emergencies).

I shower almost daily (more than once a day if I perform a formal workout). I use Pert shampoo with conditioner since it gets my hair the right balance of clean and "bouncy". I used to use that Fructis stuff but it made my hair almost invulnerable and my roommates complained because it would then clog their cheap vacuum. I wish I had a shower available at work for those rare days I get pepper tree sap in my hair.

Brush teeth at least once a day, normally rinse at wake up and before bed. Have mints or gum handy in case onions or garlic are on the menu.

I should shave daily now since my beard has finally gotten to that point but I tend to shave every other day and look like I have a near permanent 5 o'clock shadow most days (though most people think I am clean shaven, maybe I am the only one that can notice it when it gets that "long").

I like to wear clean/fresh clothes everyday, only real exception is my work jacket since the whole point of it is to have it take damage so my good clothes won't. It does get washed pretty often though.

Shower once a day, or twice if I have Karate. We don't have very much water to spare in South East Oz, contrary to what Al Gores little chart says. Average rainfall increasing my arse...

Antiperspirant is a must in summer, but generally I am not that bad with the sweating, unless I am sick.

Shampoo and conditioner every second or third day.

Brush teeth once or twice a day.

Shower daily, sometimes twice (if it's hot and I've been working up a sweat).
I use a roll on deodorant (can't use most antiperspirants due to the aluminium salt which is the perspiration inhibitor - I'm allergic to it).

Shampoo hair 3x a week or as needed. Doesn't take much this time of year as I'm usually wearing a #4.

Brush teeth before bed daily.

In summer, shave every other day (which is usually when wife says it is scratchy).

If more men would just be CLEAN with a smell of honest grafters sweat more women would be happy I had this discussion with the ladies only last week. Men who smell of over powering aftershave smell just as bad as men with stale sweat. Truth.

i shower every day, i use a roll on as well as perfume, i keep a scented mist in my locker at work for touch ups and i brush my teeth after most meals but thats because i'm worried i'll have things stuck in my teeth

I shower every morning, possibly at night as well if I've worked up a healthy sweat. Shampoo in the morning also. I don't use deodorant/ant-perspiration because I have taken to shaving my armpits. I sweat less and don't have to have funny substances on my skin. When I started to do this, my girlfriend thought the legs were next, lol (they weren't)

I shower every morning and if the day was particular hot, once in the evening. Vigorous physical activity also requires a post-cleansing. Deodorant and hair-gel after every shower and cologne if I'm not going to be with the child. Re-apply deodorant early evening (just-in-case measures).

I brush my teeth at least twice a day (before and after my evening's rest), but if possible after every meal as well.

Shave probably every 3-4 days, wash my hair every 3 days, and floss not nearly enough.

Hair cut every 4-7 weeks (depending on schedule and whether, or not, I actually remember to go).
