O H I am in the Webway...

If they are terminators why do they all have Drop Pods? Cover in the form of giving up killpoints?

I would take Lone Wolves instead of dreads TBH. CF + SS + Termy Armor will go further than those things lol...

And most people don't have the codex yet so I don't think that you'll be getting to much love.

Couple of points

-Most Deathwing players don't like teleporting into play. You need all your force on the table to start with. You could drop the pods and go for a walking/mech force instead.

-2xWolf Claws look like overkill.

-You could probably rejig the list to fit in the RP if you configured it this way.

@Ez

Space wolf terminators can't deepstrike therefore they to do it they have to have drop pods. And I would love to take lone wolves instead of dreads but if I stick with the drop theme they would be the only things starting on the table which can't end well

@Lurker

-I get to choose my 4 pods that land turn 1 and that isn't nearly so bad. Or if I need to I can walk them on and just drop the pods on things to be annoying. The problem with a mech force normally means I have to take a LR which all of my pods combined would only equal a single LR.

-2xWolf Claws=1 Wolf Claw on 2 guys. So it's only 10 points since it's just 5 points to replace a power weapon with a claw.

As for not getting much love it's more a thought of how you guys think this kind of set-up would do. Maybe things you think won't work to get me thinking about changes I could make. Thanks for the responses

Not savvy to the cost of claws. 10points does seem to be of little use anywhere in the list. Good call.

Does the drop pod rule work the same way as the one in the marine codex? Will you get to drop 4 originally?

Yeah, Space wolves follow the drop pod assault rules just like SM.

Derp. My list is fail. I will get back to this thread later...

Reminder - CMLs are 1 per every 5 Termies, so the squad Logan runs with is going to be CML free. :(

So, I was recently downing on folks for doing the whole Logan + Long Fangs + Drop Pod thing. However, I think it may have a home here. I mean, it is a gimmicky thing and all, but busting up a pair of Land Raiders on the first turn might be advantageous, even if the unit dies, leaving Grimnar to beat face on his own until he can join another Termie unit later on.

Here is what I drew up:
HQ:
Logan
[275]

Troops:
(5) Wolf Guard Terminators
- Power Weapon, Combi-Melta
- Power Weapon, Storm Shield
- Power Fist, Storm Shield
- Chainfist, Combi-Melta
- Power Weapon, Combi-Melta, Cyclone Missile Launcher
Drop Pod

(5) Wolf Guard Terminators

(5) Wolf Guard Terminators
- Power Weapon, Combi-Melta
- Power Weapon, Storm Shield
- Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield
- Chainfist, Combi-Melta
- Power Weapon, Combi-Melta, Cyclone Missile Launcher
Drop Pod
[305]

(5) Wolf Guard Terminators

Heavy:
(6) Long Fangs (Logan)
w/ 5x Multimeltas
Wolf Guard Terminator
w/ Power Weapon, Storm Bolter
Drop Pod
[208]

[1998]

Think that is a good way to go? I went more for shooting than assault, though I don't think they will be too bad off in that department.

I like the idea of the long fangs. Not a bad suggestion for a non-pure deathwing army. In fact I might try it just for kicks though it does lose me my two dreads which I'm a little obsessed with I'll give them a shot

Eh, I could argue for the fluff. A massive, overwhelming force of heroes in heavy armor seems very Space Wolves to me. With the quality of model coming out and some basic modelling, this army would be a sight to behold. I want to see if I can get the stuff together to test it. Seems viable, at least to a degree.

EDIT:
Just remembered it was counts-as Deathwing. That is very suitable, I would think. The Drop Pods don't fit, somewhat, but it could just be a circumstance when it was most advantageous to use the Pods vs. Teleportation.

Even grey knights (arguably the most likely army to only teleport) in the fluff use drop pods when it's best to. Teleporting is for precision strikes, normally off of homers that someone else is carrying. Pods are used for mass arial assault. Which is what 25 terminators translates to (1/4 of the whole first company)

I dig it. I had a similar idea kicking in my head, but was thinking some speeders and beacons instead of dreads. Some much needed late game mobility and troubleshooting.

I like the loadouts but seems a bit gear heavy. I think you could get the rune priest in there easy by dropping some claws and the requisite CML and terminators. Then you have some psychic defense and a handy anti inflitrator option so your landing zone doesn't get narrowed by some saavy infiltrations.

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."
