I've decided to buy the Horus heresy books but don't know which five to buy first. I'm tossing between Fallen Angels, Tales of Heresy, Mechanium, Legion, False Gods and Rising. Just tell me which one not to get to make it easier for you. No sarcastic comments, like "Get none coz' they all suck' and stuff.

You should probably buy them in order. I mean it is like a continuation.

Yes, read them in order. http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Horus_Heresy_Series Theres a page that lists the books in order and has details of the plots and characters.

Or just buy the Horus Heresy Collected visions and get virtually the entire story in one huge HB book with some kool artwork.
But yes - read them in order is a good idea.

Probably Nurgle, Africa has the lock on that.

In Order, IMO, Because they're insanly dense, you'll never work it out otherwise.

When you call an intimate moment with your partner "the Assault Phase"
Is that followed by a pile-in move?
That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"
Can that be following a deep strike, or do you have to wait until the next round? |

This.
Eisenstein, Fulgrim, and Mechanicum all refer to things that happen in the beginning trilogy(Horus Rising, False Gods, Galaxy in Flames) that, if you haven't read them, make no sense without context.
