Okay, anyone been to the GW website recently? They just redid the tactics article, and now they have an article on putting the vehicles together and painting them, too. I'm not sure what to think here. Are they coming out with a new codex, or just redoing old articles? I'm just wondering this because I also heard somewhere on Librarium that Tau might be getting a new codex soon. Is this a sign, or just GW removing the older, better articles so they can replace them with propaganda?

Alas, poor Yorick.

They may just finally be getting up some articles they had written years ago. You never know with them. So far the rumors point strongly to a new Tyranid book anyway.

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

I have not heard the fainted peep on anyone considering looking at updating that book. I cannot see Tau coming in the next two years.

...I'm dumbstruck seeing anything Tau-related posted up on the website. They must have been really bored or something.

I'd like to see them get some attention, but I doubt this really means anything.

GW is randomly uploading things these days, almost as if they got a big dart board on the wall with each segment holding a special update of the day bit. I'm still waiting for word on those two new IG tank commanders!

There won't be a new Tau release for a while. How do I know? They did the same thing they are doing to the Tau with Brettonia and nothing continued of it. As for the Tyranids, most people say Feb 2010.

Are you suggesting that GW are squatting Tau (and Bretonnia for that matter)?

I'm just saying as I did to another thread just like this, they are just going through all the old WD arcticles and random stuff that goes on in thier HQ.

With this and the Manta, maybe they're trying to placate Tau players? Or revive some interest in the army?

Codex updates are a good way to revise interest. Or hell, how about some models? Lots of people liked the GD Tau models that were shown off, and there were two of them I was told were going to be available as collectors soon, but nothing ever came of it.

Tau merely suffering from a very mild case of post 5th Edition nerfing. At least you can't take out an entire Tau line with one crazy sweeping advance.

They'll get their 5th Ed Codex in good time (another 5 Space Marine codexes first though).

I can defo see a Tau Barracuda in the new book in 3 years

GW seems to be ripping alot of the forge world stuff off,or buying them out slowly.

example:Guard Baneblade,Marine Drop pods,Tyranid Trygon (seen in WD) and more i can't think off the top of my head.

Let's hope when DE get re-done will have a Raven

I think the web team is just getting their act together and getting back to adding content to the site other than just selling stuff. If you go to the what's new today blog they're always asking for photos of conversions and stuff too.

@ Farmer

Don't expect to see Apocalypse style units in a Codex. This kind of thing will be published in a separate Apocalypse datasheet, like the Baneblades and Gargants. GW don't want Superheavies in normal games of 40K (yet).

The Deathstrike Missile and in some cases the Valkyrie seem more likeApocalypse style units than standard army choices.

I can see some of the smaller units like tetras being added into 40K in a new codex. I don't see a new codex for about 2 years however. I'm planning on seeing an inquisition codex before than but who knows with GW. I think they will follow a somewhat similar release schedule of everything that has been released so far.

I saw the articles on the GW site and thought ... just maybe. I know better than to get my hope up however.

Frankly, if they're adding anything to the codex from the Taros book?

I'd go out on a limb and say it'll be the different variants of the XV-8s.

I don't know but they have made a painting firewarriors article today.

I don't believe the site update has anything to do with an army update.

Adding to the wishlisting:

-Tetra's could be a very easy cross-over unit since it's small and could share parts with the Pirhana.
-Updated suits to pose legs/ arms more dynamicly.
-Additional Hammerhead turrets.

I'd put Tetras out of the running, just because they're so...well, boring.
They function well with the Skyrays and things with Seeker Missiles, but they just aren't something you'd see in regular play without ALOT of changes.

I'd love to see them release standard XV-22s, or redo the standard Crisis Battlesuits to look more like Shas'O Rymir (is that how you spell it?). They should redo them to look more like the XV-25s.

What was that about the manta? Is GW releasing that?

Isn't a manta like super immense? I think it would be cool if they would do a superheavy flyer for tau, but I think a super-duper heavy would be a little too much. I think any new superheavy would have to be something that's banebladey or stompay in size and function. I would hope the next big release is a plastic thunderhawk or warhound though.

No new Tau. They're just posting regular articles and such for the new Astronimican portion of the site.

I see. I thought this was probably the case, it's just that, as I said, I heard something on librarium about a new codex. Thank you everyone for your answers.

Add in someone posting in the original Manta thread from three years ago, and it leads to some confusion, apparently.

I'd love to use them along with piranha so I could finally run a "tau airforce" army. so long, static pathfinders!

but yeah, their rules could use a look-over. 50 for a piranha with worse guns+armor, all for a markerlight? yeah, that needs to be dropped points wise.

...Rule 37. There is no 'overkill.' There is only 'open fire' and 'time to reload.'
