Hmmmm well my friends been w8ing for a new tau codex since 5th edition.
GW if your reading this give more Xeno love.

Is it so hard to type out "waiting" instead of "w8ing"?

But on topic:

The Tetras, like I said, I just can't see in there. They're too...specialist. Maybe though, we'd see them as a purchasable upgrade to Pathfinder squads instead of a Devilfish?

Shas'la with Pulse Carbine

The Tau Army feature is old, maybe 4th edition.

I also wouldn't trust the tactics article. For example, pulse rifles are not AP4, you can't fire a network markerlight after disembarking, deep striking suits with flamers and/or fusion guns is questionable and it is not advised to assault units with them, Shas'os are not as good as a Shas'el with target array, ethereals are not "surprisingly good in close combat", nor will basing your army around FCW mean "there's a very good chance you'll outnumber the enemy."

Like another recent Tau tactics article, this one seems to be written by an observer of the Tau army, not a player.

I just with they would incorporate human auxiliary units again...

Some of the things in the tactica article were based upon several tactics that are actually employed by people. Deepstriking Suits with meltas and flamers is actually a very risky albeit successful tactic form what I've heard. I'm much too conservative to try it but others are much more desperate it seems.

They never were incorporated?

Outside of Imperial Armour and an Index Astartes article.

We've got a ways to wait I'm pretty sure. They still have to do Space Marines again Plus, while I wouldn't mind a new codex there's some other armies that need one more than Tau does.

Shas'os have several advantages to Shas'vre's with TA. First of all you don't have to waste your third hardpoint on a TA, you can pick a Shield Generator. I've found these more useful on my commander since it's always near impossible to keep him out of combat, and once the drones are killed he's at the mercy of a power-fist. He's also got +1 to several stats, Wounds, Leadership, WS (you wouldn't think that matters, but when (not if) they end up in combat it helps, I've had my commander squad win combat a few times). Shas'o is 75pt, and Shas'vre with TA is 60. I think the extra 15 points is worth it... it's also fluffier for tournaments and such.

Which means you could use them, same with Deathwatch. My DW squad has been filling in as Sternguard.

Chapter Approved was in my mind the best way to keep armies fresh in between updates.

But I digress.

I wonder if sales factor into which codex they update and when? Im curious which sells better (nids or Tau). Nids just seem a bit boring because it's a bunch of bugs, whereas the Tau are basically skies-the-limit in terms of cool new models they could design for that army.

Then again I'm just Tau biased because I like the models

They function well with the Skyrays and things with Seeker Missiles, but they just aren't something you'd see in regular play without ALOT of changes.

I'd love to use them along with piranha so I could finally run a "tau airforce" army. so long, static pathfinders!

but yeah, their rules could use a look-over. 50 for a piranha with worse guns+armor, all for a markerlight? yeah, that needs to be dropped points wise.

Guard pay as much for a Sentinel as a Chimera.

Of course they do.

No none the things they posted were new. I remember them when they first came out when the 4th ed codex came out. Their tips will only quicken a tau defeat in 5th ed. Tisk, tisk GW.

I would love the tau codex to be re-done in the new style and way codex's are made these days, however i do think there are other races they do kinda need the new codex more than tau atm, such as dark eldar( which thye are doing) 'nids (Which there are strong rumours about) and sisters of battle (very unlikely but i can still hope )

And? All that means is that the sentinel needs a point (or rule) adjustment also, in my mind.

Amen.

You've got more than 144 characters and you're not being charged for them. Enough of this netspeak retardation.
