hi

i always wondered. in the old codex, looted vehicles has the same stats as un-looted ones, but in the new ones, they only have

armour value
front side rear
. 11.. 11.. 10

and the boomguns is only rng 36" then the un-looted type has higher (like a earthshaker cannon). can i just say for examble an looted basilisk has an earthshaker cannon + big shoota but still have the same av as the looted wagon in the codex?

If you want to put a Looted BAsilisk model on the table, you have 3 options:
Call it a Looted Wagon with BoomGun, with all appropriate stats.
Call it a BattleWagon with KillKannon, with all appropriate stats.
Play a Codex that includes Basilisks.

Blackspike has it correct. What the old codex did is totally irrelevant.

Of course, it Apocalypse you could field a Looted Basilisk with Basilisk stats, no problem.

You'd probably want to use a more Orky BS2, however, but that's just me.

Or you could use the vehicle design rules and build an Orky basilisk. That would be legal, as long as your opponent allowed said vehicle. In all honesty, you could USE a basilisk the way it is as long as your opponent allowed you to do so. Really thats all it comes down too. If they say, uh sure why not, then its legal for that game lol

I don't like the fact that Phil made our looted Basilisks veeeerryyyyyy sucky (not that I was playing with Orks when we had the option but still).
I wonder how someone would model his Looted Monolith...
Anyway, on topic, no, you cannot use looted Basilisk model as Basilsk in non-Apocalypse game. As a Looted Wagon yes, but I wonder if someone besides me would really use them...

They were published in Chapter Approved 2004 though I seem to recall seeing a few websites that list the rules as well.

They were in the 2nd Chapter Approved book too, though 2004 had "updated" them iirc. They are horrendously outdated now though, and the current "official" way is to modify pre-existing Apoc Datasheets.

For what it's worth, AB40k.org's 40k Datafiles for Army Builder have the VDR rules in them.

Yea they are seriously lacking in the updated department. I still read through it from time to time. Usually end up making something that costs about 3x more then it should lol

I made a rapid firing/barrage/4 barreled basilisk with a dual twin linked heavy bolter once. It cost like a million points, but man of man would that have done some death

VDR is good for creating vehicles for apoc, and then testing them at the hideous overpricing. This gives you a good way to figure a point value that doesn't start out overpowered. After a few games with discussion afterwards, you and your group can find an appropriate point value for the vehicle.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Actually I think you can lol. I have no clue how the hell you would fit that many cannons on one tank. As for that one I mentioned, I dont remember completely as its been years since I thought the rule sup, but I think that cost something like 500 points or so. Thats ALOT for a normal armor basilisk lol

check out the big ork gun from GD last year. It was featured in a WD battle report although can't remember when sorry.

On topic, I like that the ork rules mean that ork armies no longer have that sodding basilisk at the back - nearly everyone I played used one, however I am a bitgutted for ork players that it was changed so much. Personally I'd allow orks to use a looted tank with a bs change, as long as they didn't abuse it! and a million poin tanks? Why not just loot an imperator titan or something

You can find a VDR at http://www.ageofstrife.com/tools/vdr/

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

Its good but I think that its too cheap. For example

>For eldar i made an AV13 open-toped walker with a transport capacity of 11 it comes in at 97pts ... now place a squad of fire dragons in that and you have stupid. (heavy support)

>For SM i made an open top AV14 immobile vechicle with a transport of 11. 151pts Deepstrike that in and good luck removing the squad in it. (heavy support)

> for Orks i made an a walker, agile ( move 12" ) aV12, 9, 9 and DCCW enough to give 12 attacks. 73pts (elites)

Its a good starting place but to open to corruptions.

In a Tournie I had 3 Leman Russes I was using as BWs with DeffRollas and my Ork oppenent objected that the main turret wasn't big enough to be a Str7 AP 3 weapon even though it was the standard one which is normally Str 8 AP 3 AND the Leman Russ is clearly the model used in the picture in Ork Codex under Looted Wagons.

I fear the day when I will no longer be able to use "Looted Vehicles" as BWs because now, after I spent $100s on them, there is an actual BW model. Your custom BW used to be a showpiece of converting skillz. . .

Anyone else have this fear?

If your battlewagon's no bigger than a Russ then that's a pretty poor centerpiece.

They're still a little weedy to stand in for a Battle Wagon, but it's better than a swift kick in the eye with a sharp stick.

Take a sharp stick. Tie it to your boot. Give someone a swift kick in the eye. Do they look like they're having fun?

Alternative answer:

What happens when 'a swift kick in the ass' and 'a poke in the eye with a sharp stick' fall in love and have a baby?
