Ultramarine Land Raider Pilot on Cruise Control

Hi i have never been to a games day before and will be going on sunday the 27th so i am a little (a fething lot) unprepared.
If you would be so kind as to tell me how to survive the hellish environment that is games day.
question 1: do i bring models?
question 2: is there discount on the models at the counters?
question 3: can i bye a guardian ticket at the games day door?

1. No need. It's more an expo, with display games and games to be played. All models are supplied.
2. Hahahahahhaa. No.
3. Not likely. Probably worth going to you local store to get one.

Well when you get there it will be a long wait to get in and it was simple to get a game as I just went to the gaming tables and signed my name down with a time.

Right the scrap demon is on a table in the place itself and you follow a theme each year. Last year when I went it was a Ork vs SM conversion. The golden deamon has it's own special entrance and you have to have a form that came in a white dwarf a while back.
In general a couple of thousand people turn up to games day each year.

It does not cost anything to have a go at the scrap deamon.
Also there is a sales stand that will be selling the latist releases and terrian making places that are free.
Participation games are great aswell as last lime they had a SHV battle that cavered most of the area and a life size 40k game with orks and SM's.
All I can say though is to enjoy the day and not to get bogged down with games. Try to do a bit of everything.

Yeah man, try to see everything - if it was anything like the one I went to years ago, you'll be able to meet the sculptors, artists and developers (and complain about your codex!), it's a good place to hear rumours about new stuff and they often showcase upcoming releases. I think Games Day is a wicked idea.
But yeah, take a packed lunch!

Doc, your buying the 1st round then mate
And yea, scrap is free, grab one of the staff tround the table and ask him if you have any Q's about it.
Golden - Either fill in the form, or i do believe you can enter via the judge counter that used to be there (havent been in a while)
Battling - I wouldnt bother mate, usually the tables fill quickly.
Food - Tastes like gak and you pay around £4 for a small piece of pizza, that tastes like its been dropped on the floor a few times.
Take your own lunch to save a small fortune and have something half decent

Forgeworld will have a stand there, and usualy sell an events only miniature which is only available on the day and not through their online store (not sure what it is this year?). If you want any of their stuff get to the stand as quickly as posible as the queues are stupidly long and they sell out fast.
Don't worry too much about getting to the sales stands straight away, they have plenty of stock and are unlikely to run out early in the day.
As said above the food is overpriced and tastes like cardboard, take a back pack with food and drink, this will also be handy for anything you buy, rather than carrying plastic bags all day.
Last time I went there were tables set up for people to bring their own miniatures and have games with each other, although given how many random people will be milling around it's probably best to leave the figures at home.
Quite often there will be book signings going on, if you want a book signed find out when the author will be starting and get there 15 mins early as the queues for popular authors such as Dan Abnett are huge.
Make sure you have your mobile charged and with you, it is a large place and easy to get split up from those who you are with as it can get quite hectic when the doors open.
Enjoy the day, everyone is there for the same reason and there is tons to see and do!
