So for the longest time I've never really looked into the WH and DH codex for allies. Ever since 2nd edition I've pretty much stuck to fielding whats in my codex and working with what I have. Recently however I've come up against some powerful lists at my FLGS and I would like to up my game a bit. The lists that are stomping everyone are double lash lists. So before I take on these opponents I would like to add some pyskic defense to my army. I immediately looked at the DH codex to see if I could fit a fluffy inquisitor unit into my army (its based around the Cadian Gate after the 13th black crusade) that is also competitive. I was curious what if other people have added Inquisitor Lords to their armies for similar reasons? If so how do you normally equip them? I see a lot of interesting goodies in the DH codex like the Emperors tarot and what not. Also would you advice maybe taking an assassin to deal with the Sorcs on foot with the lash? Currently I'm working towards meching up my army to help but I'd also like to add some form of pyskic defense to my army. So what are your thoughts?

DH Mystics are great if you've got a squadron of Demolishers and/or a Executioners to leverage.

I don't think you can use Land Raiders as an allied contingent lol.

If you are having problems with Psykers, you may want to try Grey Knights. I am not familiar
with the lash but they are tough to target or even charge for daemonic enemies. Throw in some
Psycannons and you should have no problems with Slaaneshi daemons.

I regularly played with IG, and I always thought they were basically bolter fodder, then I allied with a DHs player in a local doubles tournament, and decided that DHs are the way to go

A elite Inq with 2 mystics in an IG army rocks. Put him next to some of your pie plate goodness. When a DS happens the squadron can wipe it out. They are very much worth it and not that many points.

How does the shooting against deep striking work when say its like a drop pod? You dont get to shoot at the marines as they technically didnt deep strike? or do you?

You do not get a shot at a Drop Pod. But Demons, Termies, Crisis Suits, ect you get a shot at them as long as they are within range of the Inq's roll. It is not very many points but well worth it if you have like a hundred points to spare.

You sure do get a shot at a Drop Pod -or- the guys disembarking. If I have Demolishers, I'll use them against the pod and catch some Marines with the large template.

You do indeed get to shoot at a drop pod, and you can choose to shoot either the drop pod or the unit disembarking from it. As per the DH FAQ.

I guess I am wrong. I just looked it up on the GW site and they do get to shoot at drop pods. That sucks for DP SM armies vs IG Russ Squadrons. Mystics are better than I thought. I do not see why anyone does not take an elite Inq with 2 mystics until the new Inq Codex comes out.

Because the full combo Lord with Hood & 3 Mystics is better.

Elite Daemonhunter Inquisitor with 2 Mystics and Emperor's Tarot goes in every Imperial Guard list I make. The anti deepstrike is key to keeping your tanks safe and if not the +1 to the roll to going first is always good. The only down side is the 2 kill points in 1/3 of the missions but you can hid them in a corner somewhere.

Or, you can toss them in a Land Raider...

I second this idea... let your big AV14 box provide cover to the ordnance batteries hiding behind it.

Plus you can add the size of the LR for the distance that the Inq can use his power.

I think some people underestimate the awesomeness of a LR. Those things are seriously tough, and when you keep them moving, its nearly impossible to down them in CC.

I'm consideirng using witch hunters alongside my marines. Their models are pretty sweet looking imo (altho some are pretty bleh) and some of their units can dish out the dirt. I'd recommend them!
