Just as the title says, if I move 6" with a rhino, am I able to shoot 2 meltaguns out of the fire point or if I move 12"with an ork trukk can every model in a unit of tankbustas still shoot? Or are they restricted to only firing one weapon that's strength 5 or more due to the vehicle moving. I can't find a clear enough answer in the rulebook :(

Rulebook, page 66: "Fire Points" last paragraph.

They can either fire or not fire. There are no rules limiting the number of models that can fire beyond those allowed by the fire points.

They follow different rules found on page 66.

So does that mean if I've got 2 meltaguns in a squad and move 6" I can fire both of them out of the fire points as they're not treated as the vehicle's weapons (ie not subject to vehicle movement and shooting penalties of only being able to fire 1 weapon and all defensive weapons)?

However if you move 6.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000[...]001" or more passengers may not fire at all, regardless of the number of Fire points

Nope, Relentless doesn't help either. It allows them to count as stationary when they do fire, but it doesn't allow them to fire when the vehicle moves at cruising speed.

Ooh - sorry folks, I have been clearly misled (although I dont think ive actually done this in a game)!

I checked around and found this:
http://www.40konline.com/community/index.php?topic=164391.0
as the source of my information, where it is quoted:
My advice is this. Give your thousand sons rhinos. They can move you up 12" you can pop out and fire 24" because you are slow and purposeful. That is a 36" range. Also It will help mobilize your army and avoid the slow walk of death.

However clearly on page 66
Models firing from a vehicle count as moving if the vehicle moves, and may not fire at all if the vehicle moved at Cruising speed that turn

I shall check my sources before making such bold statements again!

Cheers

This is correct. They can disembark and still shoot. They can't shoot if they remain in the vehicle.

The benefits of reading the rules. This I have done, and its good to know that its legal!!! I had misread this however to include taking shots whilst still embarked (i had considered using it for Bolt of Change drive bys).

I actually got 38 inches out of the disembarking and shooting, as you get the 12" + disembark up to 2 inches away from the doors + 24" range, so by pivoting on the side you can get a little extra distance.

Cheers guys!

Well, you do realise that movement is an abstraction, and that they don't actually move 60feet then stop and take turns? In "reality" the vehicle moving 12" is barrelling down as fast as it can. Try this for me:

1) Since we do not own 9001RPM Man Portable Scud Missile Launchers, Instead take something like a M16 or AK47.
2) Jump in an M113 or a FV432 (The FV432 is what the "Real Life Rhino" was made from).
3) Dive off at 50-60 km/h
4) Stick your top half out the hatch
5) Try to hit stuff while still moving

Not so easy, is it?

Now try this:
1) Since we do not own 9001RPM Man Portable Scud Missile Launchers, Instead take something like a M16 or AK47.
2) Jump in an M113 or a FV432 (The FV432 is what the "Real Life Rhino" was made from).
3) Dive off at 50-60 km/h
4) When your CO says "Jump", you sodding well jump. If you are lucky the APC will slow down for a split second.
5) Take aim and fire.

Which one do you think is easier?

Well, given that you probably broke your legs after hopping out at 50mph... to be more realistic GW probably should have allowed vehicles to disembark passengers only if they moved 6" or less (or some other number) instead of full movement since vehicles typically need to slow down some to let people out without extreme damage.

Ok, lets go back to the rules:

When moving cruising speed, the rules say you can fire if you disembark, and that you cannot if you do not.

Simple!
