I've not seen the new codex, but this sounds like a reasonable pod list. I think it would give my orks a run for their money with all those flamers and meltas dropping into their lines.

Why Logan Gwar? Just curious. It seems like a rather large point sink, but the unit can take on anything in CC. Anything.

Why Logan? So the Wolf Guard are troops for one. And the Stubborn Ld10 with a Reroll.

And the ability to pick Fearless, Tank Hunters or Preferred Enemy (Also relentless but not useful for termies) every TURN (i.e. on yours as well) and make the unit that
And the Axe Morkai, and the ability to get +1 attack once per game for when I REALLY have to kill you.

I don't have the SW codex, but:

Why a power weapon coupled with a Stormshield?
Do you have the option for a single Wolf Claw instead?

It looks like a really steam lined list.

But for an all pod list... I've never really like the mandatory dropping of the pods first turn. Three in this list have to come down, not too keen on that in every game.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

So I can stack Plasma Wounds. No Point in having a TH+SS only. It just means you lose more when he dies. This way I can stack the killy wounds on a cheap invulnerable guy because of wound allocation

Yes, but the 2nd wolf claw only costs me 5 points anyway.

I have always run Pod Wolves lists, even in 3rd when Rhino rush was at its peak (I played it as well as pods, but always liked pods better). I like the way that I have to think tactically, as I have only half my army at once, and love making the enmy brick themselves when I blow up 2 tanks and BBQ a unit before they even get to move.

Logan is in the pod with the Wolf Guard.

The Scouts are using Operate Behind Enemy Lines (Special Outflank, 1=Left, 2=Right, 3+ = Any of the 4 Board edges)

Roger that.

I think this list could work if you used your pods to make your opponent feel like he is surrounded, especially if you get the Scouts coming in from behind. However, at higher levels of competitive play, I feel players will see your Drop Pod spam and remove most of the threat with delicate deployment.

Two power-weapons on those wolfie-scouts. Well worth 20pts. With that & the MotW they can actually tear through high-save troopers...and combine that with a well-time Logan-RAWR.. Well, *slice*

Yeah, I wanted to, but the points are tight, like, really tight. It's 1500 after all, and scouts are 20 a pop cause of the meltabombs (and you thought Necrons were bad at 20 for a MEQ profile, Ld 10 and WBB ). If I drop a scout I can take two PW, but at that point the squad is becoming too small in numbers to be effective.

I mean, what else can I drop? WGT are 33 base cost, and each only has 15 points of wargear each. I can't drop any Hunters or I lose my 2nd special (let me tell you, Meltaguns at 2.5 points each makes me moist in the happy place ).

Drop a GH and loose a free flamer. Is another option.

But why the melta-bombs? Whats wrong with krak grenades & the extra Oompf from the power-weapons.

But Krak is not S8 D: And lose a Free Flamer? NEVAR!!!!!!

Ok, fine, I drop the meltas for 35, add two PWs and have 15 left. What to spend them on, another storm shield maybe? Or another body for the scouts?

The WG cant really spare another arm for a storm shield, 2 is enough in a 4man squad. Nice & light, points wise.. but still relatively hitty with 6-8 str8 attacks (depending on Logan RAWR) and another 7 str4 pwr weapon attacks (the wolfie claws are special, I know).

What exactly did you drop? A meltagun isnt ever worth 35pts... An extra body for the scout squad (as Ive mentioned theres no room for a storm shield with the wolf guard) cant go amiss.

Whatcha gonna do vs a monolith?

I like the theme quite a bit.

I've got a few pretty serious criticisms of the list.

Your maximum range for non bolters is 12", and your maximum speed is 6" plus a run. It should go without saying that this is going to make some match-ups virtually unwinnable.

With 3 of your pods forced to drop on turn 1, you're taking a guaranteed loss when going first in dawn of war games, and against any army with the ability to begin in reserve and recover with fast mobile firepower. This could be a great core for a larger army that included long range fire support. And taking logan in a drop pod army and not taking a long fang pack for him to join is a real shame.

Please check out my current project blog

Feel free to PM me to talk about your list ideas....

I dropped the 5pts/model Meltabombs. 35 points for a meltagun? No way, we pay 2 and a half points

Well most marine armies struggle with fast mobile firepower. My Main goal is to get an Alpha Strike. Yes, in DoW I take a big hit, but thats an acceptable risk. And as Much as I would love Long Fangs, I just cannot fit them into 1500. They will be a stable of my 2k lists for sure.

Not being able to deal with monoliths is quite a liability. But fair.

Why are the wolfie scouts so essential, they could just-about be replaced by some multi-melta long-fangs. I do love the idea of wolfie scouts but firepower seems to be more of a concern over close-combat prowess

Because I loev the wolfyscouts

But srsly, the scouts work out to 150, and the Long Fangs to 140 (without a pod) so I suppose I could swap them. Missile Launcher Long Fangs seem to be the best point/Range/Strength ratio imo.

Yes but when your spending sooo many points on Logan..Rentless podding multi-melta's is, by far, the best anti-tank out there.

Edit: Otherwise, why bother with logan? Surely blackmane will improve your troops CC more-so. I can see the utilitiy though.

Yeah, but it is a 1 Trick Pony. It also means Logan's massive CC abilities get kind of wasted.

Logan gives me Scoring Wolf Guard with 2+ Armour and 3++/4++/5++ that is Ld10, Stubborn with a Re-roll on failed Morale, and can have Fearless, Preferred Enemy or Tank Hunters. he is by far much better than Ragnar.

1) Its not a one-trick pony. Once they land -PEW. Once theyve been around for a turn.. PEW?! Ofcource they can get destroyed but then your powerful wolfguard/grey hunters will be fine to wreak havoc.

Also, I think logan can survive alone for one turn, whilst he moves up to engage the enemy (just like the wolfguard will) so its a case of where-ever the wolfguard themselves can either survive/soak up lots more than 200pts worth of firepower.

2) That wolfguard will get eaten by somthing like a bladestorm.. well three of those four models will loose a wound. Only 1/2 if you allocate one of those to logan IF he accompanies the squad.

I like the list.. the only thing that I see as redundant are the wolf scouts. This is because, being in drop pods, you will be landing close to the enemy anyway, on another note... I think that you could keep them in the list (to help against those pesky castlers).
To make use of logan grimnar abilities to the fullest I would drop a greyhunter squad with dual melta, and add a Longfang squad with 4 MMeltas... in a drop pod. These will travel with Logan, and benefit from relentless. A dirty, dirty combo. Or, keep the HB's or ML's, serve to taste.

Other than that, it looks Ok, I have the feeling that those wolf guards will die pretty fast. But this is the sort of list that I think SW will be very good at. Then again We play 1700-1850 arround here usually.

Drop a Grey hunter squad and replace them with long-fangs.

Simple. You dont need that many troop choices. Your fine with one less. You will GREATLY benifit with those heavy weapons.

Wow that is dirty. You can still split fire to take out two expensive tin cans in that single turn as well? I think this combo will go a long way to wrecking people's eggs in a couple of av 14 baskets.

Which, as it stands, is missing some heavy firepower.
