I've got three computers.

The oldest is a Mac iMac G5, the original release in a white case. 20-inch screen.

The second oldest is a MacBook, white model from last year.

The newest is an EeePC 701 Linux box. I upgraded the RAM to 1GB.

Erm, ok, ill give it a shot

some pre-stone age piece of gak that fails to load basic pages, it crashes at every chance it gets.
Page loads take forever, however mozilla makes this quicker ...... when it finally loads up

Cooling: A feth load of internal heat sinks and 5 fans (2 on the graphics card).
Ram: 6gb DDR5 Corsair.
Monitors: 32" LG True HD Television.

I used to use my PC for special effects editing using industry standard software, but now it gets used for beasting games at 5.9, watching Bluray and writing scripts.

And how is the HDTV when used as a Monitor, I always thought they looked crap. Whats the res on that thing?

I don't want to upgrade to Windows 7 until there is a stable release.

I bought the PC in December 2008 and that I7 was what was recommended in my budget. It does the job.

I say DDR5, it might be 3. The Grpahics card also has a DDR number and I get mixed up between the two numbers.

The HDTV I use is freekin insane. 100hz with no loss of picture quality whatsoever. I can't give you exact number for it as I don't have the manual to hand. They use such monitors for special fx editing as it gives the best true definition. What you see on the screen is basically the top quality of what a finished film should look like. They use them at Industrial Light and Magic and if they say they are good, they have to be.

The entire package cost me nothing as it was an xmas present but the bill we got was £2000 including monitor and import tax. Her Majesty's Customs and Excise impounded it because they claimed it was a business grade PC and not for personal use.

And yeah, I can see DDR5 on the GPU. As for resolution, just Rclick your monitor and go to the settings and find out your res there

I'm running at 1920x1080 HD according to the settings.

My RAM is 6gb DDR3, graphics cards is DDR5.

It is nice, I won't disagree with you there, apart from the fact that it weighs a ton, so no take out on varsity steps and use for this beast, more of, move and take to lan with its own powerstation

Really liking all of the new options coming out from the price wars. Excited about the press release on Thuban or whatever it is, more excited about the Athlon X4 620 for $99 list. Next build within the next couple of months is going to be centered around that and a longterm mATX board from DFI or MSI depending on the chipset. I haven't decided yet. 1156 is an interim processor and while has pretty good benchmarks and numbers for a good price, I really prefer AMD for their underdog status and innovation. See Eyefinity and the paper release on the 5800 gpu they just released.

Hmmm... well I have about 12 machines at any one time (excluding the two servers for dakka and my personal site)...

Gaming PC (due for an upgrade, just waiting for SSDs to improve a little bit more/come down in price before I get 3 of them in RAID0): Some quad core extreme heavily overclocked, 3GB DDR3 RAM, water cooled, some decent nvidia (single) card, 750GB of WD raptors (was hardware RAID0 but in a recent reinstall switched to JBOD). Windows XP.

Programming laptop: core2 duo 2.4ghz, 4GB RAM, 370GB HDD (useable), latest ubuntu

Netbook: Acer Aspire One w/ SSD and kubuntu 8.10, slow but portable and stable.

File server: 11.8TB of useable RAID5, some quad core AMD processor, 4GB RAM, debian.

TV backend: 3 * 750GB HDDs, 4 DVB-T cards, some core 2 duo processor, 2GB RAM, debian

TV frontend (I have 3 identical ones of these): some core 2 duo, some fairly decent nvidia card, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, dual boot kubuntu (for XBMC and mythtv) and XP (for gaming on TVs/projector)

Wife's laptop: not sure - cant remember, at least dual core intel though.

Music recording computer: Some old AMD CPU, 2 GB RAM, 500GB HDD, ubuntu, needs updating / decommissioning

Firewall: Mini-itx 1GHz fanless, 1GB RAM, 500GB HDD (for squid cache), debian. In process of decommissioning to replace with hardware router/firewall.

Backup server: 7*1TB HDD (no raid), 2 GB RAM, mini itx 1GHz fanless, solid state OS HDD (need to replace), debian. Runs incremental backups of the rest of my machines.

I also have a bunch of old parts and laptops scattered around that I could scrounge into useable machines but they are due to go to the dump soon.
