far away from Battle Creek, Michigan

Prologue
Sergeant Hammond Jenkins had always loved terran dogs. Sadly, three centuries ago a group of Ork kommandos had ambushed him while he tended to some pups.

Now he was entombed in a metal body and known as "Old Man Jenkins" the venerable Dreadnought of the august Black Templars chapter of the Space Marines. He was very old and sometimes wet himself. He would hang around the munitorium muttering "I don't want to be a bother" as the tech-priests upgraded his weapons or flushed his hydraulics. His mind was not sharp--he had once conversed with a lobotomized servitor for an hour while some of his Templar brothers looked on giggling. However, little did his derisive battle brother realize that when their doom hung in the balance it would be Old Man Jenkins that would be their salvation.

Ork list:
Warboss, Mekk/FF, 3x20 boyz/nob in Deff Rolla Wagons, 10 divirsified nobz in Deff Rolla Wagon, 2 rokkit deff koptas

Templars list:
Emperor's champion, Marshall, 2 crusader squads in Land Raiders, 1 crusader squad in rhino, Venerable dread, predator annihilator

Mission: annhiliation
Deployment: spearhead

The Templars won the roll off and decided to go first. They deployed towards the back corner of their zone. The orks deployed as close as possible and then proceeded to steel the iniative! The Deff Koptas turbo-boosted on their scout move towards the predator and its deadly lascannons.

Turn 1
Orks
The wagons charged ahead. The templars were far away so it would probably be at least turn three before the orks could get into proper assault range. The deff koptas shot at the predator but failed to hit. They then charged it and destroyed its twin-linked lascannon and one of its sponsoon lascannons.

Templars
The koptas were shot to £$^% by a Land Raider. The KFF made some impressive saving throws and all the wagons survived.

kill points:
orks: 0 templars:1

Turn 2
Orks
The wagon on the Ork left moved up and disgorged its boyz. They were in assault range of the predator but will not be able to multi-assault the dreadnought unless the Orks used waagh. Angus the warboss saved his waagh and the orks exploded the predator losing 3 of their own.

Templars
Some good shooting from the venerable dread wrecked the Big Mek's wagon. The other Land Raider hit the Nob wagon but the KFF, still in range, deflected the shot. The other Land Raider killed six boyz with its shooting

kill points:
orks: 1 templars:2

Turn 3
Orks
The Nob wagon powered forward within boarding plank assault range of a land raider. Angus the warboss ran out and put his powerfist through the phase inhibitor wrecking the land raider completely. The Emperor's Champion and his squad disembarked in good order. The boyz on the ork left assaulted the venerable dreadnaught but Old Man Jenkins is only immobilized.

Templars
The remaining Land Raider targeted the nob wagon but again the force field saves it's tinny hide. The Emperor's Champion and his squad shot at the big mek and his squad and then charged. The greenskins are first scorched then impaled. The venerable dread suffered no damage in the assault phase.

Kill points:
orks: 2 templars: 4

Turn 4
Orks
Two battle wagons deff rolla attacked the Emperor's champion and his squad. Four templars were crushed. The orks then blunder. Rather than get out of the wagon and assualt the Emperor's champion and his remaining lackeys the nobz decided to stay in the wagon and shoot. After the smoke cleared the champion and two templars survived. In the assault phase the venerable dread lost both its weapons. So anything but a '1' or '2' will wreck the damn thing.

Templars
The Emperor's champion and his two marines assaulted into the boyz harrasing the venerable dread. The ork squad was wiped. The marshall left his land raider and his squad wrecked a battlewagon with shooting and then assaulted the now disembarked boyz. The orks die pitifully but Stoutstump the Kitten Eater, a brave nob, managed to kill the marshall with his powerklaw.

kill points
orks: 3
templars: 8

Turn 5
The Orks were clearly up against the wall.
Orks
The remaining battlewagon and its nob cargo needed to make up ground. They deff-rolled the champion and his two templars and surprise--the Emperor's champion failed his LD check and decided to pack it in. The nobz then multi-assaulted a crusader squad and a rhino destroying everything in their path.

Templars
The templars managed to wreck the last remaining battlewagon.
The game continued
Kill points:
orks: 7
templars: 9

Turn 6
Orks
The templars have an immobilzid venerable dread, a land raider, and a crusader squad. For the Orks, Angus the Warboss and his nobz remained. The nob squad hits the land raider and only shook it.

Templars
The land raider and the crusader squad move away from the nobz.

The game ends with a convincing Black Templar victory--9 to 7 kill points

Tactical reflections:
The ork blunder has been noted above. At the time I thought it would be a waste of a disembark to get out and kill the emperor's champion and two marines with a nob squad. Mistake. Interestingly, my wagon list seems to lose kill point missions. The last to KP missions I've lost. I think this is because the enemy is able to move away and stay out of assault range. In objective missions it's harder for the enemy to deny the wagons the assualt with 'scoot and shoot' tactics. The templar list also had only 10 kill points and 2 of those were land raiders! That's tough.

Looks like Stoutstump the Kitten Eater forgot to eat his obligatory pre-battle kitten (IMO the real reason you lost). Next time eat two to make up for it!

My eyes!!

Interresting, though. I've not played my slowly growing BT army yet and there's some Ork players in my area so good to know what a match like this can be like.

He fled due to Tank Shock, not CC.
