So yea whats the mesurements for the average table used in 40k?

Doesn't matter what it is or what it is intended to do. If you add a chainsaw to it then it is instantly better!

I think the rulebook or something like that suggested 6' by 4' once (might be too big, I'm not sure ). I can't remember where I read that though.

Thanks!
Ok second question. Do you deploy on the long edge or the short edge?

The mission will tell you where to deploy. But like Emperors Faithful said it's usually the long side. Although it can be the short edges or quarters, it depends on what you want to do.

You don't have to play the missions, you could come up with your own scenarios and then figure out what would be the best place for deployment.

We usually play on a 4'X4' for 1500pt games and 6'X4' for larger games, and even bigger for apocalypse

4x6 is good for 1500, but if you're playing <1000, 4x5 works.

Heres what I did. Mine is 4x8 (a standard size for plywood) That way if the game is BIG. itll fit. And you can easy mark off the table for the smaller games. Also as far as setting up table edge wise, the rule book has a couple different scenarios for how to do it. (they still need to bring kill teams back, the cheap basterds!)

4 X 4 seems really small for 1500 points. There is not much movement. Let me guess C&C in the first round if you roll well.

I usually build my table 4' x 8'. That way if you are playing a 'normal' game, you each have 12" of table at either end to keep your minis, dice, lists, etc. My wife even made some large elastic bands, so that we could measure off the board before games. Works like a charm.

Thats a good idea! Hope your wife doesnt mind, but I think Im going to use that on mine lol. Beats the measure, then use dice and yell at people who want to touch said dice

At the moment I'm rocking a 6x8 floor space in my apartment (my GF accually keeps furniture out of it, i got a tiny place). But im moving soon, and I'm upgrading to a 6x10 in my new house. but i tend to make my terrain in 2x2 sets, so it can be adjusted. 4x4 is good for under a 1000, and 4x8 will take anything under 4000 a side

6X10 is huge,
for a newbie, 6x4 is more than enough.

A plastic tressle table is normally good enough (just don't go to close to the edge

Hey, well, i've crammed 3000 pts a side into a 3x4ft board. Then again, i'd much like a bigger one (infact, i've got one with the sand drying on it in the living room right now)

When you call an intimate moment with your partner "the Assault Phase"

Is that followed by a pile-in move?

That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"

Can that be following a deep strike, or do you have to wait until the next round?

Since my wife plays too (yep, I AM one of the lucky ones!), we've had a few different table builds over the years. The easiest and cheapest was a piece of 1 1/2 inch insulation foam (pink or blue) liquid nailed to a piece of brown board (masonite). It was then covered in felt. It's light weight and easy to move AND it wont scratch your dining room table (as long as you put felt on the bottom in a few strategic places).
