Since I've nearly completed my tau and have now collected all my models for my Death Guard army I began trying my hand at conversions. I needed to give this guy something that counts as wings so after tacking on zombie dragon and lich lord terminus wings I went with the ever so subtle jetpack. The second problem was with the face, I didn't particularly like the scrotum chin that the model was sporting. I debated two options, trying my hand at sculpting a head, or trying to get my hands on a defiler head. Final inspiration can in the form of my wife, "Why don't you put a bag over his head like in the movies?"

Brilliant. So I present Demon Prince Varius, former death guard veteran:

I dislike pretty much everything Nurgle, but that looks good! I like the idea for the wings/jumppack. Much better change from the usual.

Also your wife is clever. That head looks abysmal, but you were able to make it bearable by 'putting a bag over his head'. Brilliant!

That looks rather good.

You might want to even out the ends of the jet pack, as the left one (looking down on the model) is slightly longer than the right, and also the end is slightly rough.

Think you also need to add some more GS to the left turbine end as there is a bit of a discontinuity between the turbine, the white jet pipe, and the GS.

Other than that, it looks pretty well sculpted. Good job

The roughness I just noticed, thanks. The length is a little wonky looking because when you're looking at the model his right shoulder is lower than the left, I'll see what I can do.

Just noticed that too, after a long period of painting/sculpting a fresh pair of eyes is always needed

No worries, glad that I can give you something constructive to go on

As I say, otherwise the model looks pretty good (I too hate the original face, this new one looks a lot better). Have you thought about putting some stitches on it? I am not sure if it is flesh or an actual cloth bag, but if it is cloth it might be appropriate for some stitches to hold it together.

Edit: Never mind, I can see some over the model's right eye

D'oh!

Yes

Though I did not point it out as I thought the paint would hide it. Plus even Nurgle needs to have a giggle every now and then

That's just nice. The jet pack is a nice and different touch. I've seen some nice sets of wings too, but you tend to see a lot of wings. Very nice and very different.

Hope we'll get to see some pictures of it painted.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
I like it.

When you call an intimate moment with your partner "the Assault Phase"

Is that followed by a pile-in move?

That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"

Can that be following a deep strike, or do you have to wait until the next round?

Cheers,

Jack.
