Hey guys, it's been a looooong time since I posted here, but I've gotten into making video battle reports and I just wanted to share.

This is my first full attempt, and while I'm happy with it, I feel it could be better on the audio front and there's a lot more I want to do.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WtlIYh1vj4 Feel free to comment/crit

Thanks!

This is awesome man!

Please, share as much as you want. This is one of the best video batreps I've ever seen. I love how you include audio and animations and such. Is this your first attempt?

Awesome vid man!

Hey, do you know why the Guard player kept charging the Marines with regular guys? I mean, I think he should have just shot the Traitors instead because his guys would die anyway, but at least they would not only kill a few but die on the Chaos guy's turn and leave the Marines open for being shot at.

Also, if "the Guard Player" is you Big-Squig, then I address my question to you: why?

Hello Guardsmen, look at your Leman, now back to mine, now back to your Leman, now back to mine. Sadly, your Leman isn't mine, but if they stopped using standard engines and switched to Lucifer Pattern, they could move like they're mine. Look down, back up. Where are you? Your in a battlefield with the Rhino your Leman could move like. Whats in your hand, back at me, I have it, it's the fire control for the Twin-linked Assault Cannons aimed at you. Look again, it's a Deep-Striked Land-Raider. Anything is possible when your Tanks move like Blood Angels, and not like Guardsmen. I'm on a Baneblade.

the guard is more likely to survive if they charge, than if the marines charge.

and honestly, 10 guardsmen rapid firing lasguns into marines won't do very much damage anyway... your looking at ~1 dead marine.

The guard player was not me. I didn't play, just recorded...so I can't speak for the guard player's logic.

Yep, first try (excluding my test run), and I'm gonna start working on another in about a week. I'll be sure to post it.

Thanks all for the nice comments.

Great batrep squig! It's a nice report, that was a weird guard list you played against sure, but it still managed to win

This is a great report. How long does it take to put together something like that?

I look forward to your next one.

Very good job!

My advice is to add some death/charge screams (don't abuse them) and maybe a different sound for different weapons... Something less "laserish" for the CSM, for example.

Can't wait to see the next!

The only reason IG would charge a chaos unit is to prevent getting charged on the next chaos turn, thus nullifying Furious Charge or whatever that rule is that gives you bonuses when you charge in addition to the +1A on assault. I can't say that's why the IG player did it for this game specifically, but that's usually the reason.

Also, the guard unit was a combined platoon, so it had three sargs with power fists, and I believe a commissar and a priest (though I don't play guard so don't quote me on it). Also, straken was near by giving furious charge to the unit.

Fantastic video. As a n00b I often have a hard time really visualizing what's going on during a battle just from written battle reports. (The proxy at work blocks most photosharing sites, too, helping nothing.) Watching this was not only quite fun, but I get a much better idea of how the battle is going.

If I had one suggestion it would be to show a bit of an overhead view in between turns to let people see where all the units are in relation to each other. That said, I love the style you used (dare I say cinematography?) and if overhead shots ruin it, they're definitely not worth it.

The Guard had Iron Hand Straken. He gives friendly units within a certain range Furious Charge. That's probably part of why he kept charging.

this would probably be my best of all video battle reports i've ever watch. And maybe you're right that Guards charging can be more likely to survive tham marine because of their number matter.

Great video, perfect amount of text.

Maybe add army lists next time?

As for the game:

Chaos rolled 1" for run a lot:(

What the hell were the Oblits doing for most of the game?

Could have been a different game entirely!

The oblits spent most of the game in the bunker. They blew up the leman, shook a few tanks, and with the exception of the last turn, had no line of sight.

I thought a bike-based Melta blew up the Leman Russ? Then again, I only watched it once, I trust you

Excellent work, truly commendable. I very much like the format you laid down there - My only criticism really would be that the one-line explanations of the actions cycled a little too fast. Not much, but maybe an extra second or two would be perfect. I'm not particularly a slow reader, but I found that I would read the text, my eyes would move up to look at the visual of said text and it'd be already cycling to the next event.

Still... 1,000,000 times better than anything I could produce!

Really nice battle report. The obliterators seemed to be forgetting to fire at stuff most of the time, and the guard player seemed blessed with a lot of good luck. Anywho, like I said before, excellent battle report.
