After a recent bout of Nurgle's Rot I have sold my soul to the great Plague Father and have begun to assemble a hoard of daemons to do his bidding. First up is Epidemius who will act as a centre piece and set the tone for the whole of the army. Although Epidemius has some cool rules I plan on using him as my own herald. The model is mostly finished, only the banners and base need more work. I intend to use these guys as a gaming army and I'm aiming for a good tabletop standard.

Anyway, here are the pictures:

My herald will have the daemonic gift 'Stream of Bile' and here you can see him vomiting maggots all over himself.

Details of the palanquin and nurglings:

This model was a real pain to put together. The components needed a lot of dremmeling in order to get them to fit and there were a lot of gaps that needed filling. The detail on the palanquin and nurglings is poor which made painting them quite difficult. I'm not sure if others have found this but personally I wouldn't recommend this model for someone who is new to the hobby.

Finally, I would also like to use this post to make a request. I'm looking for someone (preferably in the UK, but not necessarily) who would be willing to do some commission sculpting work. My plan is to use the FW plague ogryn's as beasts of Nurgle and I'm looking for someone to remove all of the sci-fi elements from the models: tubes, conisters, boots, etc. If anyone is interested send me a PM.

Cool work on Epidemius. I really like the decision to go for pallid maggots for the Nurglings it works well.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I agree with the red as well. Perfectly executed. Looking forward to seeing more of this Hoard.

"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47

Omadon's Realm

Quite disturbing painting him in human skin tones and painting the nurglings to match, like little plague babies...

I'm also quite surprised at the deteriorating quality of the metals from GW, I bought Zagstruk the other day and was boggled by just how bad a fit it all was.

Nice job, i cannot wait to see the finished squad, i like how you gave him pink rather than reooting skin.

Great start mate! Clean, crips and well detailed and defined painting.

Not a fan of overly gribbly nurgle models but it looks like your striking a good balance here and letting the colour and detail on the model do the work for you on the gribbly side, while keeping the painting clean, which is what I like!

Looking forward to more.

Cheers,

Dante

I definitely like it! The flesh tone is great, just close enough to human to make it creepy; I actually felt a little icky looking at it and reading about vomiting maggots.

Well done; I think you made good work out of a very irksome model!
