Hey guys,

Been trying to do some work on snow bases for my new wolves, and i keep running into some issues. I have tried the Bicarbonate Soda method, and a few other methods detailed around the place, such as a mix of Snow 'flock' and pva and various other things.

The only problem is that i'm not getting a real smooth looking snow. And i am confused as to what the consistency i need for the Bicarb method, some places say it should be similar to porridge others say a cream consistency.

So really any tips or advice on to how to get a nice smooth looking snow would be welcome (unfortunately mine so far have been coming out somewhat grainy)

Thanks guys.

Sounds crazy, but have you tried sugar? Put elmers on the base, dip in sugar. Let it COMPLETELY dry and then spread a watered down elmers onto the sugar to seal it up. Looks pretty good, and sparkles a little like real snow.

I have had great success with the Hudson and Allen snow. Mix it with some PVA Glue, a bit of water and then make a lush-like consistency. Apply that to your bases and it dries into a great snow. It works best if you have a rocky or raised up base.

Ooh, I have no answer to this question but I'd like to say I think it's a good one, because I wondered howas well, i could never make it look right, always seemed like the GF9 snow scatter dissolved into the PVA...I gave up

Hi

Careful using bicarbonate. I initially used that on a bit of my early Counts and it turned a slight shade of yellow. My best success has been;

Woodland scenics snow
Water
PVA

I know you mentioned the snow/PVA in your initial post but I was wondering if you used water? The water helps determine the consistency, the snow gives it the right look and the PVA makes it hold together. Just add more water for the slushy effect. You can also combine this with Woodland Scenics water effects to give it that realistic look.
