They were very pink and almost glowed. However, I wanted to field rangers as troops for an upcoming tournament, and while updating my knowledge of rules I found something quite interesting. Page 226 and 277 of the 5th edition rulebook has a beautiful Alaitoc color scheme. I was inspired

Thin your paints, tidy up your lines, and work on shading and highlighting. All this looks like you only applied one coat of paint to any given surface. This makes the black undercoat come through really strongly, which in turn makes the paintjob look sloppy, dirty, and thoroughly not good. All the paint is spilling over; try using a finer brush.

Try using more than two colors for the entire army. There's no variation, and as a result everything looks really, really boring. Once you get some solid, clean base colors down (something you really need to do) apply washes and/or highlights in the appropriate colors. This would mean a lighter blue to highlight the edges of the models, and a dark blue wash to fill in the recesses.

There's a significant lack of effort going on here, especially from what I can see with the helmetless guardian. You just left his head black, aside from some blue that spilled over onto his chin. Get a flesh color (like dwarf flesh) and paint his face that color. You can leave the hair black or paint it another color if you wish.

To sum it up:
- Thin your paints for more even coverage
- Use more than two colors for your entire army
- Get cleaner lines
- Shade your models

Try looking for some Eldar painting tutorials online. I'm sure they can help you a lot.

Callum, it's a nice start, your choices of blues is good but they do not really offer any sort of compliment to each other, in other words they don't really break the model up so to speak, teqniques such as shading and highlighting can wait for a while, just concentrate on getting a nice layer of paint on the models without any brush strokes showing it is hard when thinning down paints as I am still trying to get this perfected but you will get there, once you have a nice smooth base, next up work on your brush control, the neater you work the better the model will be

If your having trouble painting various parts you could always undercoat your model white and then give it a thin wash of the base colur this will bring out all the detaisl and make the model look a little like a 3D colouring book and will be easier to work on.

Last piece of advice if you have clear parts leave them until after you have painted and varnished the model, other whise you risk getting, glue and paint all over it, anotehr tip for clear parts look for a humbrol glue called clearfix this will glue all clear parts without leaving any nasty burn marks on them that standard glues usually do!

keep at it Callum you will get there!
