Amazon still has it on pre-order as Amazon are hopeless.

Of course, I'll still buy it from them as it's cheaper than everywhere else and the cost of shipping from FFG directly is actually more than the cost of the book.

Which makes UPS even more hopeless than Amazon, which is just astonishing.

Sigh...

Every time I see Rogue Trader, I feel like GW has re-released the old books.

This does look cool though, I'd love to try it out sometime!

I too am torn between all the purchases I must make... RT looks pretty damn fun, but where do I fit it in around everything else that needs purchasing?

Is RT a small-sided game? It seems like it would be. If so, it just moved up on the priority list... Small sided games are so much more easier in all aspects methinks.

Rogue Trader is a must. Got a group 40K players that wants to RPG but all there armies are kind of on the fringe of being Imperial Heretics. So I would think everybody should enjoy.

How can you be a rogue trader if you are "empowered by an ancient warrant of trade"?

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Incoming Astropathic Transmission+++

Greetings Dark Heresy fans!

This week I am proud to announce the 2009 Dark Heresy Adventure Contest!

The contest for this year has a special theme—the Radical side of the Inquisition! Mutants, heresy, daemons, aliens and much more are all fair game. From Radicals as the protagonists to purging the Radical taint in the name of Puritan ideals, all are up for grabs. Last year’s contest produced some excellent entries, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the adventures for this year!

The official rules are presented below.

Contest Rules and Info:

All entries must be received by November 30, 2009.
Entries should be submitted in PDF, Pages Document, Word Document, or rich text formats only.
Entries should be no longer than 10,000 words in length (which equates roughly to a 16-page adventure). The Entry should include something related to the theme of Radicalism in the Inquisition.
Entires should be appropriate the adventure is to the 40K universe and the Calixis Sector, and extra points are awarded for visual presentation.
Entries must be submitted to dhcontest@fantasyflightgames.com and must include the following information on the cover sheet of the submission:
1. Your full legal name
2. Your e-mail address
3. How you would like your name to be displayed (e.g., J. Smith, James Smith, or James T. Smith)
4. The title of the scenario
5. The following disclaimer must appear verbatim:
"I certify that I am the author of the attached material and that attached material is original, unpublished work. Fantasy Flight Games and its licensees may reproduce, distribute, publish, display, edit, modify, create derivative works, and otherwise use the material for any purpose in any form and on any media. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Fantasy Flight Games against all claims, suits, costs, damages, and expenses that may be incurred in connection with the material."
Entrants shall not submit or expose their scenarios or any part thereof for any purpose beyond private use once submitted.
Entries will be reviewed by the Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay development team, and the top three entries will be submitted to a limited pool of our playtesters for evaluation and judging.
Entries will be judged based on creativity, setting treatment, clarity, and professionalism.
Winners will be announced by December 21, 2009.
The Prize

The winning entry will receive a signed copy of The Radical’s Handbook in addition to recognition on the FFG web site. Also, the top three finalist scenarios will be made available for download once the finalists have been announced, so the fans can view them and play the best scenarios submitted.

You can find the finalist and winning entries for the 2008 competition on the Dark Heresy Support Page.

Because Maelstrom wasn't giving me 50% off the price (and offering a pre-order on the Radical's Handbook, BSG: The Plan and Children of the Gods Final Cut all at the same time).

Got my copy last week. Only had a quick skizz through so far, but i am a happy shopper.

..meanwhile....

Little update from the forthcoming Radical's handbook

was thinking about the Dark Heresy Adventure Contest for this year (see below), and it struck me that one thing many writers, including myself, really value is inspiration.

Radicalism exists within all three Ordos of the Inquisition, from Hereticus to Malleus to Xenos. It is likely that the Ordo Xenos provides some of the most mysterious Radicals, for many who succumb to the lure of the alien never return, and few are able to master the intricacies of non-human philosophies and technology in balance with their duties to the Inquisition.

Therefore, I found a good section of The Radical’s Handbook to present as a bonus second preview for the book—take a look at the mysteries of Seedworld AFG: 218, one of the xenos sites that are explored within the pages of this heretical tome.

Hopefully this preview not only whets the appetite for The Radical’s Handbook but it also provides some new ideas and concepts for a Radical-themed adventure entry into this year’s contest. I am really looking forward to seeing the entries this year, so if you’re thinking about entering, now is the time!

Adventure Competition

Don’t forget that the 2009 Dark Heresy Adventure Contest is going on right now! You have until November 30th to write up your adventure, and this year’s theme is all about the Radical factions of the Inquisition.

Amazon USA? I got mine on the 15th from Amazon USA. Did you have anything else in the same order that might be delaying it.

I usually don't have any problems with european Amazon. Their German branch is pretty quick, 3 days max. and Amazon.co.uk takes only slightly longer because they have to ship it to another country.

I want Rogue Trader, but I already payed 50$ for that other 40k RPG I'll never find people to play with.

No. In fact, one of the things I did order at the same time has already shipped, but the book hasn't.

...latest stuff :

Deep within the generatorium-crypts below Footfall's void shield projectors, two hooded figures meet in the steam-filled tunnels.
"You'll be sure not to let on where you got this?" one figure says, as he glances fugitively from side to side. "If my masters learn what I..."
"Your masters are far away, my friend," the other responds. "Give them to me."
The first hands over a data slate, and several sheafs of parchment. "I copied these, they were submitted with the report."
"Good, good," the individual replies, already reading the hurried scrawl. "Now go, and enjoy your reward."
The first turns and flees down the passage. The other is so engrossed in the information contained on the data-slate, he does not notice him leave. Nor does he notice the single las-shot that echoes down the passageway a minute later.
Finally, he tucks away the data-slate and parchment, and smiles. Master Winterscale will be pleased...

Hello, Rogue Trader fans!

The history of the Imperium is full of half-truths, legends, and lies. Delving into the truth of matters is often difficult, and sometimes impossible. However, after much effort we have unearthed some of the secrets of the Koronus Expanse, a history of deeds and events both grand and nefarious. Now it falls on you to sort the facts from the fantasy.

Download it here, or on the support page.
