Subject: What do you do when there is no local store?

Now, im not talking about a FLGS, their are about 4 of those within half an hour of me, But to be honest, the best experiences i've ever gotten, were going to games workshop's stores and interacting with the staff members there. Now the issue is, I live down in Florida, which has NO GW's what so ever. Now personally i would love to open one, i've even contacted games workshop in reguards to this, only to receave an answer of "we dont franchise". But im not satisfied with leaving it simply at that. I would love to see them open a store down here, even more excited if it was a bunker, and now im trying to figure out how to make this a reality. The first thing that pops to mind, is to draft up a petition get as many signatures as i can (does 500 sound good?) and then send that in. Now where do i get these signatures from? How do you think the FLGS would feel if i brought it into them (given that they dont actually sell the GW stuff at any sort of discount, its all at full price). Whats the opinion of my fellow Dakkaites?

Perhaps you could circulate the petition at your FLGS?

Even if a GW store were to open in my town, I would still stick to the store I usually go to.

Your FLGS is not going to thank you at all for trying to get their customers to sign a petition to bring in competition. Probably will get downright hostile, in some cases.
GW has it's big bunkers in about 4 spots around the country, and some smaller ones with 6-8 tables in other places. You aren't getting a big bunker in FLA, as those are reserverd for large metro areas with a strong GW store presence. You'd probably do better to help organize a club, get events going, etc. at one of the FLGS. If you really don't want to do that, and just want to be near a GW shop, probably you should think of relocating. Moving is a hell of a lot easier than getting GW to open a store near you.

GW prefer to move their product through retailers anyway - they don't have to invest in re-fitting a building and paying staff, and they would be unlikely to see a marked increase in product sales over what they ship to that area already. Four locally establshed hobby centres is probably the biggest reason there isn't a local GW.
What'sa matter, get permabanned from them all already?

No, i didnt get banned from any of them, And i think to even suggest something like that is not only ignorant on your part, but down right uncalled for.

The American South has been GW's poorest selling section of the country - I would not expect to see any GW stores in the area for a long time. 500 signatures on a petition would be just a drop in the bucket compared to their sales data.
GW's current strategy is to target one region at a time & fill the area with multiple stores so that staff and management can cross support. The Chicago region (currently a 400 stretch covering Milwaukee to St. Louis) has a bunker and about a dozen of the new strip mall stores.
If you want a GW style game store in Florida - you'll need to do it yourself.
