So I was talkin with a buddy of mine and he tells me if a LR is taken as a dedicated transport (Terminators, only ones in my CSM dex that says they can take it) that it doesn't count against your heavys in the Force Org.

My question is can I take as many LR's as I want as dedicated transports in a game? Like say at 3000 points I wanna run 3 squads of termis in dedicated LR transports, could I run 3 more as heavies as well? Thanks in advance!

I would agree with the above posters. But if I may follow up notice that the Rhino transport specifically calls out, "if the squad is 10 or fewer models" then you can get a Rhino, but the Terminators have no unit size restriction to get a LR even though the LR can only carry 5 Termies.

Is there a change in the SM codex for the LR, can they carry more than 5 Termies? I seem to recall reading some bat rep's where that occurred. I am getting back into 40k, haven't played since the beginning of 3rd so haven't been able to catch up with all the new codices. If the regular SM LR can carry more Termies, I am glad to see even in the year 40,000 engineers are still trying to improve leg and head room.

Thanks
Chris

Depends on the Land Raider, regular has 10, crusader is 16, and redeemer is 12... so 5, 8, 6 respectively for TDA squads.

But I think CSM are restricted to just the plain ol' LR.

The CSM Raider can still only carry 10. The rest is Chaos goop or some crap like that GW invented so the SMs could have an assault term squad and attached character in aregular raider.

Regular Land Raider/Redeemer Holds 12 in the new SM Codex, Crusader 16.

CSM Are capped at 10.

Even more weird is that Nilla Marines have 12 Man Drop Pods, while Space Wolves have 10 Man Drop Pods, presumably because of all the Ale.

Just a quick edit qwar, reg. LR and LRR can hold twelve models, where as only the LRC can hold 16 in the new SM codex. and the drop pod thing, ale is most definitely the answer.

Woops, that'll teach me to go from memory

Sorry, For some reason I thought Crusader => Redeemer meant keeping the 16 transport cap

I wish, im kind of in love with the redeemers. I play against space marine players primarily, so those AP3 Flamestorm cannons are sexy when they light tactical squads up. silly how thy made space wolf LR only hold 10 models, eh?

actually, it's for cases of mead/wine and giant cheese wheels. the cheese is for the wolves (obviously) and the w(h)ine is for their opponents to make their defeat a bit more palatable. hurr!!

ah bad ass... I'd never run 6 land raiders (common, 1500 points in transports only?) but its interesting info I normally take up a heavy slot anyway to transport zerkers to my front lines!

No you can't. Only one terminator squad and one Terminator Assault squad may take a LR as a dedicated transport. So maximum five LR. -But shurely thats enough

The eye of terror.

You can... but why would you want to? 1320 points for 6 lascannon is dumb, and even more so because Chaos doesn't have it's own version of the machine spirit any more.

Statistically, 6 lascannon does what... kills one chimera a turn?

SM land raider spam can work because they have much better rules and can mount much better weaponry. Chaos Land Raiders can be berzerker taxis... but they are expensive even for that role.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?
