Subject: 1000 pt tournament results and report

so i hadmy first real game of 5th edition today, 3 actually, reports a follows, it was a 1000 pt tourney with chaos, necron, eldar, space marines, ig and my orks
my list was
2x12 boyz, coppas and sluggas, nob, pk, bp
1x11 boyz, coppas and sluggas led by Big Mek, pk, bp, KFF
3x trukks, planks and riggas
9 lootas
9 kommandos, nob, pk, bp
9 stormboyz, nob, pk, bp
16 grots, runtherder
First up was Dawn of War - seize ground
I was facing IG
3 gaurd squads (2 in chimeras)
1 veteran squad
1 command squad
1 leman russ
1 leman russ vanquisher
luckily i went first and set up the 3 boyz in trukks right in the middle of the board, my opponent deployed his squads in chimeras and gaurd squad vets and hq 19" straight in front of me.
this was messy, i charged straight in engaged the 2 chimeras with the nobs, destroying both, killing 7 guard and 2 orks in the explosion while simultaniously engaging the rest of the boyz with the vets and the last guard squad, when it was all over the hq, 1 squad and about 3 guardsmen remained as my orks consolidated into cover.
the stormboyz came on and moved into cover while pushing left to meet the russes when they arrived, the grots arrived straight onto an objective with the lootas for support.
his turn 1 his russes arrived and killed all but 3 stormboyz. guard called in a barage and opened fire killing 6 boyz, he then charged my 3 squads with the remaining guard squads and hq. again it was messy but he had little option. all but 1 guard squad remained at his objective
my turn 2 i charged the remaining guard squad with 2 lots of boyz, they all died. my stormboyz just reached his russ, the nob destroyed it, killing 1 more boy. my opponent had no more troops so he conceeded.
next the necrons in capture ground
ive never seen necrons in play before so i didnt know what to expect or what i was looking at.
3 squads of 8-10 warriors (one looked a little differently armed)
6 destroyers
1 lord
again i set up first deploying the lootas and 1 trukk on the right side where my obkective was opposite me, my grots were in my left corner on my objective, and the remaining boyz with big mek were in the center again an=t the edge of my deployment zone ready to rush for cover ahead, the stormboyz with them, again my kommandos were in reserve.
he deployed all his squads on the right, over his objective.
turn 1 i rushed to cover and opened up with the lootas, putting down 2 necrons, they were about 30" away so i left my single trukk where it was hoping to avoid all that fire.
his turn 1 he destroyed my trukk with his destroyers, killing 4 boyz, and his necrons shot 4 lootas dead and shot at my big mek trukk, it made its KFF saves.
my turn 2 i declared a waaagh and rushed the two remaining trukks and the stormboyz into close combat with 1 squad each and shot again with the lootas, doing no damage. my boyz with the blown up trukk also advanced. close combat was succesful, put down about 16/24 necrons, all fled.
his turn 2 he recoved about 40% of his warriors but ran 2 squads and his lord off the table, shooting my boyz with his rallied squad, killing 2 and shooting the trukk boyz with his destroyers, killing all the remaining squad with the blown trukk.
my 2 i charged 2 squads at the last of his warriors and the stormboyz at the destroyers, again all troops destroyed it was game over.
game 3 was tough, dawn of war annihalation vs chaos.
he had
2 obliterators
3 terminators plus lord
2 squads of 10 marines in rhinos
1 vindicator
again i went first deploying 2 trukks in the middle of the table just befoe half way, he deplyed nothing.
turn 1 all my units arrived, lootas climing a hill, grots in front for cover, stormboyz and third trukk joined the mek in the middle while my kommandos FINALLY arrived for once and made a dash toward the rest of the boyz in the middle, I thought if he wans to hide i'll make him come closer.
his turn 1 the obliterators arrived to my left, shot a trukk and shook the crew.
my turn 2 the trukk boyz retaliated by killing them in close combat while the stormboyz flew over left again into the same cover as the first game, near the crew in close combat, and again to tank hunt when they arrived.
his turn 2 a rhino arrived and the obliterator in the far left corner, killing 5 stormboyz.
my turn 3 the stormboyz and disembarked trukkers made a run toward the 2 tanks, making it about 8"short. the kommandos also got into the back of the trukk my boyz were in earlier.
his 3 the terminators arrived, no where near target as did his rhino in the same corner, shooting killed another stormboy and 5 boyz.
my turn 4 i charged both rhinos destroying them with powerklaws, both sides took few damages off the explosions. my lootas were about 80" away at this stage so i just ignored them all together. while my 3 full again trukks charged toward the chaos corner.
his turn 4 he killed all the boyz and stormboyz with the 2 squads whos rhinos blew up. and the terminators penetrated the trukk, destrying the big shoota. vindicator missed
my turn 5 all 3 trukks pulled up in front of his 2 tactical and 1 termi squad, i shot the shootas before disembarking
DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all boyz sat in trukks and stared at the marines in anticipation.
his turn 5 he destroyed a trukk and wrecked another
my turn 6 i needed KP's ASAP. so i charged the kommandos and 1 squad of boyz at a tactical squad and the other boyz at the other tactical squad, ignoring the terminators all together. i killed 1 whole squad and 6 marines in the other.
his turn 6 it was all tied up and this was the last round, his termis charged my 5 remaining kommandos, leaving 1 wound on the nob, my boyz attacked his tac squad again leaving 1 marine
result 5pts each, a tie for tournament honours
all in all a fun day, this list was awfully strong and fast. next time i'll drop the lootas and maybe kommandos for more trukkers, they were the stars here, with stormboyz in support. i have terrible rolls with lootas and the kommandos only arrived once and jumped in a trukk to be expensive boyz. i like the shock and awe of fast units.

Good job, nice report. Perhaps consider a larger unit of Lootas in future, 45 S7 shots is nothing to be sniffed at.

45 s7 shots would be good, i tend to roll a 3 everytime on a d3 so 2 sots, but average about 3 hits and 1 kill.
next time im taking
3x12 boyz, coppas and sluggas, nob, pk, bp
1x11 boyz, coppas and sluggas led by Big Mek, pk, bp, KFF
4x trukks, planks and riggas
10 grots, runtherder
3 zzap gunz, 6 additional crew
a Shokk attack gun
and 7 stormboyz.
i cant wait.

Sounds good, but Zzap guns are poor. I know that you are looking for long ranger anti-tank, but that is something that the ork dex simply doesn't have. It is a sad truth, and in order to triumph, simply remind yourself that your masses of powerklaws will make a mess of any tank up close. For the 108pts that you are investing in them, you could instead increase the 7-man stormboy squad up to 14 men, and take a Stormboy Nob with a P.K into the bargain. A much better, and more reliable, bet. Also, lose the riggas on the trukks, take red paint jobs instead, and use the 20pts to get a larger unit of grots to shelter the SAG mek in.
All in all, a solid, fun list. Best of luck for your tourny!

Well done on the wins. I like your list too. However, I'm a bit confused by your report. In Dawn of War deployment you would only get to deploy one Trukk with one unit of boyz in it, plus the Big Mek. The dedicated transport counts as one of your two troop units for Dawn of War (see the example in the book dealing with Dawn of War).

Warboss Gutrip - my stormboyz already have a pk (sorry, just didnt mention it), i'm taking the zzap gunz (for fun) and to simply take out deep striking termi's or anything ap2, as well as looking after the "quiet" side of the board just in case. with the sag and grots should make for some decent firepower and cover.
the boyz will still do most of the work but they need to stay together for the KFF save and to tackle elites and the stormboyz cant be everywhere at once.
olympia - instead of the usual 2 troops and 1hq, we took more troops along with their transports, i had 3 troops plus trukks, he had 4 units plus 2 transports, and our HQs, we're more about fun than strictness at the club i go to.
we're actually doing 1500pts next so another squad of stormboyz, trukk boyz, and 2 looted wagons w/boomguns will join in too. 7 looted vehicles all up (i use rhinos for my trukks), now i really cant wait.

ehh, personal opinion but you could change the 3 zapp guns for 6 kannons which i have found to be incredible at transport popping.
