hey Dakka...

here is the second new paintjob for Dragonblood Minis...
my second lizard, and i'm already convinced that the sculptor must be crazy to sculpt all these scales...

first the link, and some pics, and then i'll talk a little about the painting...

if you just like pretty pictures:

this was an interesting new experiment for me...
startin' with white primer and workin' primarily with GW washes is a whole new trip for me...

the Asurmen Blue was the base for the skin...
a couple of washes, and he was good to go...
next i painted a strip of P3 Menoth White Highlight where Eric wanted to see lighter parts, and washed it with P3 Turquoise ink...
the blue needed to be a little more lively, so i washed Leviathan Purple into the deep spots, and went over each scale with P3 Arcane Blue...

the other main feature was more in keepin' with my own style, just with a lot more washes...
the armour was basecoated with Tin Bitz, and highlighted with some Dwarf Bronze...
it was then washed with a series of layers, with brown and black for the darkest areas, and green for the rest...
Dwarf Bronze was used as a solid colour for the trim, and then washed with Thrakka Green...

the scale mail is lost a little in the pics, but it's the old GW metallic, Glistening Green...
it was washed with Leviathan Purple, and the highlighted with P3 Radiant Platinum (one of their better metals)...

i'd like to say that i'm done with scales, but there are a line of lizards on my painting table, havin' a laugh right now...

thanks for lookin'...

cheers

Nicely done. Really liking the scales, though I think you might go crazy if you had to paint a lizardman army to that standard...

How big is this guy? 28mm? I haven´t heard about this line, so I´m just wondering.

Also, the base is a letdown I think. I mean, you painted it nicely and everything, it´s just that there´s no space to tell a story on that base. It´s so tiny and oddly shaped... Does the model tip over easily?

Still rolling ones...

Impressive quality.

"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47

thanks guys...

@Xanthos: integral bases are one of my biggest pet peeves...
i don't like them at all...
i just paint what i'm paid to paint, and keep my mouth shut...
this guy is 28mm scale, but quite tall...
he's very well balanced, and doesn't tip over...

cheers
