Hey Guys,

I am just about to embark on a mission to make 12 ard boys to ride in a trukk. I have AOBR boyz, metal gobs and shoulder pads and for the test ard boy, attached two metal plates from the trukk kit. I still have to do the finishing touches, highlights and devlan mud wash but I wanted all your opinions on the model itself. Please provide feedback on a few questions

1) Would this qualify for an "Ard boy" on a game table?
2) Do you like it?
3) What are some things I could do to improve it? Please don't comment on the painting because I am not done, I am more interested in the modelling of ard boys.

Thank you all in advance!!!!!

1) Yes, certainly, it's got the additional armour.
2) Yes, it's clearly a boy with better armour than regular boyz.
3) In the unit in general, some repositioning of the arms or hands to move the poses about, AoBR orks can prove static. Mix additional bits in with variety (certain burna and stormboy heads for example, some fantasy orc bits as well to bring more armoured look). Also give occasional boyz extra weapons or clan markers or trophy heads or bits from tau or imperials or tyranids. Adding spikes to that left shoulder for instance will add yet more height to it.

It obviously has extra armor on the model - there's no minimum amount of armor in the rules, so long as it's clear then it's legal. If an opponent tries to tell you that you don't have enough armor for a 4+ save then tell him to sit on it.

I know a guy who made his ard boyz by just sticking various plates and bitz from the vehicle accessory sprue on his orks as chestplates, shoulderpads, etc. It's messy, it's ugly, it's ramshackle, it's orky!

'Ard Boyz is boyz wif extra 'ard. Ya gotcha boy and ya gotcha extra 'ard. Good 'nuff fer me. Looks like eez been innit real rough-like more 'an a few times, too. I likes dat.

I like the bullet-scarred thing you've got going on. Creative use of glyph plates, too. Might have to consider that if I decide to 'arden up a mob. I'd have no problem fielding those or playing against them. I think it's pretty clear what they are. I wouldn't expect any opponents (ok, any but a serious d-bag with several other, unrelated gripes) to give you grief about what they count as. Nice job!

Looking good. More armored than mine, anyway. I just stuck on a second shoulderpad and a gob here and there, as per the old 3rd ed conversions for 'ardboyz. That's just right.
