Hi All,
I have recently saw that Legion book and loved it. So much so that i really want to start a CSM alpha legion themed army.
I have gone so far as to dream up the color theme and some of the models that i would need.
The problem is, the list is basically all inf, which seems to really suck with the current codex, and there are no disposable troop options.
Can anyone suggest a list i could use or some handy hints? i dont like to come second!
I like the idea of chosen who infiltrate backed up by havocks will all sorts of weapons and demon princes.

Mechanized chaos lists are still strong for non-cult legions.
4+ rhinos with havoc launchers and CSM squads, dual melta, some fighty flying prince(s). Then add tanks and oblits for fire support and that's a competitive army.
Infiltrating chosen and havoks are not the most competitive units in the codex.

You could settle for a Chosen Squad to outflank in a rhino, then other rhino CSM squads.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Sadly, the all infiltrating Alpha Legion army is a thing of Codex: CSM 3.5. It isn't really possible to rebuild that army in the current incarnation of the codex. You can approximate it, but at a non-cost effective manner, and you probably won't have a very effective fighting force as a result.

Your best bet is probably to heed the suggestions above- go mechanized marines. You can steer away from cult marines to keep more to the Alpha Legion fluff.
Since Infiltrating the army en masse is no longer an option, a unit or two of Chosen can give you some of the Alpha Legion infiltrating “feel”. Generally I think they’re not as good using regular Infiltrate as they are Outflanking. Two smallish squads of Outflanking Chosen can do a pretty solid job messing with your opponent’s backfield, contesting his home objective/s, and presenting off-table threats that he’s not sure of where they’ll hit.
For a while I was running two units of 5 Chosen in Rhinos, armed with two melta guns and three flamers. You can obviously change this up however you want, but five special weapons is definitely the way to get the most bang for your buck. One nice variation to add, if you’re going assault-oriented, is to put a naked Aspiring Champion in one of your Troops squads which is moving forward, and an Aspiring Champ in one of the Chosen squads as well. Then add a Greater Daemon. Half the time he’s going to show up before the Chosen are on the board, but occasionally you’ll get the Chosen first and the GD after, and he’ll pop out and be nasty. It’s not a very reliable combo, but when it works it’s a ton of fun.

Infiltrating just doesn't work well enough for chosen IMO. The best I've seen them used is outflanking. The infiltrate rules seem to be a hinder rather than a help in terms of an offensive mentality.

A couple units of chosen forward deployed can provide a neat place for some demons or a greater demon to summon from.

I think it's do-able. I lack a codex so I'm guessing for points.
HQ: Not a DP, just doesn't feel right. Maybe a sorc running with the troops?
Elites: 3x units of 10 Chosen. Fill those weapons up.
Troops: 3x units of 10 marines.
Heavy: 1-2x full units of havocs.
Fill with demons after that and break them into groups of 6-7+.
I'm not too up and up on the alpha legion fluff but it's the whole infiltrating army thing. Rhino's don't quite feel right but if I'm wrong mech up the whole dang thing. Balance out all your weapons to your needs and wants. If I'm counting right you're looking at 20+ special weapons not counting the havocs/combi-weapons. This should be around 2k I think.
More fluff? Swap the demons for rebel guard models you've "freshly converted".
