i threw a unit of 10 biker nobs and 2 warbosses on bikes (one of them my badass newly converted wazdakka) at 5 terminators with storm sheilds and i got just a little bit battered... it was weird...it was the first time my insanely expensive uni had been stopped in its tracks as they have 7 powerclaws, 2 big choppas, painboy and a waagh banner.
The combat lasted 5 turns and i only killed 4 of them and all my bikes bit the dust.

he also drives them around in a landraider redeemer which is also a nasty piece of work.

i need an new tactic, suggestions anyone?

What size squad are the terminators? I learned the same way that throwing Nob Bikers into TT/SM Terminators is fail. They can cause instant death to your bikes which is just no good.

Shoot them up a bit with lootas and drop their numbers a few, then assault with 30 orks. A squad of 30 boyz will take them down. Sure it will take a couple of turns, but swinging that many attacks and him rolling so many saves, he can't make them all.

Yeah, TH/SS terminators are the answer to the (formerly) broken nob biker unit. GW is telling you to bring more horde boys.

The best way to kill assault terminators with Orks is with Orks.

seriously, there's no sense in paying a premium to ignore the 2+ with their 3++. Just do six wounds per model (not hard with a big mob of boys) and they'll start to melt.

Lots and lots of small arms fire. It's a basic game of keep away. They can move 6" + run 1"-6" a turn and can never shoot. Take anything that has a jump pack for orks (Rokkit boyz?) and play keep away while shooting everything you got at him.

15 Lootas would work fairly well too. 15-45 shots against his unit per turn.

That is when your opponent sucks and you get the charge with footsloggin' Orks, while he's out of his LR, and you miraculously get to strike first.

The first problem is getting them OUT of the Land Raider. This is difficult for orks and you can rest assured that if the terminators do disembark from a destroyed result they will assault and put the pain on the unit that destroyed the Land Raider. Shoot them with all you've got and then assault with 30 boyz and a hidden PK.

60/3=20/2=10/6=1.66. Same thing, basically.

As noted, the hard part is indeed getting the darn termies out of the LR. This is what S10 PK warbosses are for.

I did some mathhammer on this one and found out the following:

29 Shoota's +PK Nob vs 5 SS/TH.
Marines Charge: 4 Rounds of CC, 12+1* Orks left
Orks Charge: 2 Rounds of CC, 23+1* Orks left
No one Charges*: 4 Rounds of CC, 18+1* Orks Left

29 Slugga's +PK Nob vs 5 SS/TH
Marines Charge: 3 Rounds of CC, 16+1* Orks left
Orks Charge: 2 Rounds of CC, 23+1* Orks left
No one Charges*: 2 Rounds of CC, 21+1* Orks left.

19 Shoota's +PK Nob vs 5 SS/TH.
Marines Charge: 3 Rounds of CC, 3 Termies left (Orks lose Fearless after round 1)
Orks Charge: 4 Rounds of CC, 8+1* Orks left (Non-fearless after R4)
No one Charges*: 5 Rounds of CC, 2 Termies left (R2)

19 Slugga's +PK Nob vs 5 SS/TH
Marines Charge: 4 Rounds of CC, 2 Termies left (R1)
Orks Charge: 3 Rounds of CC, 11+1* Orks left
No one Charges**: 5 Rounds of CC, 5+1* Orks left. (R2)

*+1 is the Nob.

So, as long as you get the charge with a decent sized squad of boyz you'll be fine. Problem with orks is that you can't get them out of there LR so there is nothing to charge. They'll come when they damn well please.

EDIT:
Warbosses on Bikes only give you a pretty narrow chance of destroying a LR. A LR will generally move 12" (unless it has delivered its payload), so with 6 attacks (4+Charge+Attack Squig) you get 1 hit, 33% to pen, 11% to destroy. 100/11=9, so you'll have to do that 9 times to kill a raider on average.

Two main principles and you'll just about always kill them.

One: Hard on soft, and soft on hard. You struck your hard unit against his hard unit. This AT BEST is a gamble. One unit will crack, and in this case it's most likely yours. Spend your bikers on something you can squish easy. Opposite, make his unit hit what you want.

Two: Bait and switch. They won't get out until they can hit what they want right? Give them something. Direct a unit he would want to kill with those T hammers toward that raider. Just to keep him hungry. Keep a unit of 30 strong boyz just off stage, maybe 6-12'' close to that unit. He takes it, you either tarpit or kill him. You never have to deal with the LR at all. The biggest thing I learned fighting orks was the countercharge wins. Do your best to avoid his countercharge.

TH/SS are designed to take out elite units. Either feed them some cheap fodder or make them take alot of saves. If they're in a LR, swamp it with boyz and make it spend the entire game tank-shocking fearless units. If the termies get out; "drown them in wounds"

I tell you a full sized gretchen mob, you don't have to kill them, just keep them busy.
The terminators will only get 10 attacks [15 the 1st turn] it will take them 3+ turns to kill them all even if they hit and kill with every attack.
Thats 135 points for one mob.
Trust me I had this happen to a Hrey Hunter Backs that had twice the attacks. I hit them on turn 2 and when the game finished on turn 6 there were still a bunch of them left.

Boyz, you kill them with Boyz.

Sluggas, Shootas, it doesn't matter. You should have so many attacks that they will fail their 2+ saves. If you charge they're just plain screwed.

Nob Bikers get eaten alive by them, but that's fine. Their Land Raider moves 12" a turn, you can turbo 24".

Run away from the raider and other parts of their army and then stick Boyz in between the raider and the Bikers.

Gretchin will run away (Ld 7 with reroll -Combat resolution), so that's not an ideal tarpit unit. Take boyz and you'll be better at tarpitting and destroying the termies.

I'm not sure if there's a 'best way' can't you just ignore them and their 250 point taxi? (the "Best way" is likely lots of shots, more than six, something like 20 shootaboyz in a battlewagon, or even more shootaboyz on foot, then charge in)

Yeah so my math was off. It will kill 6, not 12. After you charge though all those power weapons should finish the job.
