Tips:
1. Laundry Day is every Thursday.
2. One machine for colors, the another for whites.
3. When choosing between greens and whites, generally go with both.
4. Each color needs to be applied appropriately when worn, else the whole thing falls apart.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Well, Sanctjud made some tips about the colors and laundry for the robes.
You have to decide what army (company) you want to field:
DW, RW, or just an army with Tactical Marines as a core.
I'd opt for DW since the DW Termies look cool and the army is competitive.

DA do mech pretty well. Yes they are slightly more expensive than basic SM, but they do have the AV14 skimmer. This is probably the main reason to play DA over SM. (or if you want terminator troops) I believe the basic mech list is: Sammael in landspeeder 3x Dreadnought MM+CCW 3x (10x tac marines, flamer, MM, rhino) 3x Landspeeder MM,HF 3x Predator AC, HB sponsons For 1850 pts I believe Pretty straightforward mech list. The Sammael landspeeder really makes it on par with the cheaper vanilla SM lists. Predators, landspeeders, sammael pop transports. Landspeeders and Dreads pop heavy armor. And then you have a ton of shooting to deal with infantry. If you want to go Fluffy and go DW or RW, the troops can be altered to be Terminators or Bikes.

The only thing I would alter to Timmah's list is to consider using Razorbacks. DA can still take 5 man units with special weapons so they make Razorback spam very viable. Having a whole bunch of mobile twin-linked HB's can be devastating.

I myself just started a new DA army and couldn't find any reasons to use the old dark angels codex. I use it all as count as vanilla marines with my DA models. The only possiable reason to use the old codex is for Raven wing over White scars build because of the ability to take more landspeeders that way. The whole deathwing army never seemed to good to be because your almost always 2 to 1 odds against you.
If your interested in a fun army though and really wanna stick with the DA book, I would go strict 2nd company all the way. Turboboost for the win

Believe me, Sammaels landspeeder is really makes up for the point difference. And yes, you also have the option of spamming razorbacks instead of rhinos. (worse generally imo, but its a different playstyle and such)

One things for sure, DA+Anything=awesome. But if your having problems Private Message me your army list and ill give you some pointers, i have been doing dark angels many years so it should help. If you cant be bothered doing that my tips would be, if your playing a shooty army Termies+Drop Pod=Dead Enemies If your playing a combaty army Scouts+Sniper Rifles+strong enemies X the above tip on weak enemies=aaaaaaaaaaay Hope that helps,

Also, if you run DW or RW you get the cool apothecary that ignores 1 save (any kind) per turn. Which is always fun to use with vehicle cover saves.

Sammael's landspeeder is indeed awesome and any competitive force short of pure DW should include him. I've never had an HQ that has been as effective as Sammael. From turn 1 on he's influencing the game.
Razorbacks vs. Rhinos: I don't know if the 'backs are objectively worse but they are different. I feel that I get enough AT from the Dreads, Landspeeders and Sammael's AC so I like the HB's on the 'backs but it really comes down to playstyle. Razorbacks are more mobile and the squad as a whole is cheaper so you get more but Rhinos pack more of a punch and you have more variety in Heavy Weapons (so you can take a MM or Lascannon). I've played both ways and there have been times when I had one and wished I had the other in both layouts.

My friend Plays DA and he had a brutal strategy, but it is not necesarily competetive.
He had Samael in the flying Landraider w/ His elites as termies. All of his bikes that he took as trrops had Teleport Homers and first turn he had 3 bike squads and 2 termie squads up on my side of the field, I was royally boned
