Hi everybody, I'm a long time reader, 2nd time poster. I've been into Warhammer 40k, and pretty much every other Games Workshop game since I was about 12 or 13 years old. I started back in good old fashioned 3rd Edition. I did what every kid does with his first army, which is build and paint it as quickly as humanly possible. Without any prior know how of how to paint a miniature, I taught myself through trial and error, and sold my horribly spray paint destroyed, more layers then you can count on that plastic, army on eBay. I still feel bad about it to this day, but, I got enough money to rebuild, and start over. That's when I built the "first edition" Bloody Fists, then known as the Black Talons. I used this army for years, and also collected a Imperial guard army that got used maybe 4 or 5 times.

About a year ago, I was desperate for cash and hadn't looked at my Space Marines in probably another year prior. I decided to sell them on eBay, as well as the guard. I'm really upset about it still, since I had literally a full company of my own Chapter. What more could you ask for? Well, one day after rummaging through my basement, I stumbled upon a never assembled combat squad. I also found a few scouts, and various marines here and there that never made it. I had a start! In the past few months I've veeeeeerrrryyy slowly assembled them, and began to paint them.

Being assembled right now is another 6 man squad (the Chapter's norm) as well as a slightly converted Veteran Sergeant, who will lead this small scouting division of 2 squads through its first few battles, until he gets either brought into a command squad, or gets put in charge of a single squad.

Thank you very much, I appreciate the positive feed back. Both the Crimson Fists and Black Templar are both successor's to the Imperial Fists. Putting my DIY chapter in the same direct successor feels a little weird, but it also does make a lot of sense. It's not like they would've been created at the same time. If anyone still has a Warhammer 40k 3rd edition rulebook, you can see my inspiration for my army dead smack in the middle of the picture. That mixed with the 3rd edition Space Marine codex, pretty much raps up all inspiration I had.

As far as the siege army part, I am sort of down with that, since every squad will be a 6 man squad with a heavy weapon, and probably an assault weapon. My plan is to buy a squad of marines, the Assault on Black Reach box set, a tank, a razorback, and a land speeder and maybe one of those boxes of plastic scouts. to end up with probably around 1850-2000 points worth of marines.

Bad news for you. Marines Squads may only take Special/Heavy weapons in a squad of 10 in the new rules.

Unless you use the Blood Angels 'dex, in which you can have a special weapon in a squad of five, but no heavy until 10 men.

no... way. NO WAY! that's a real kick in the teeth. And makes me completely reconsider what I'm taking in my army. Why would they do that? That completely gimps Marines... why wouldn't you just give every single marine a chain sword and bolt pistol and have them just drop on your enemy from drop pods then?

Oh yeah, and thanks for props on the Avatar. He's hanging out next to my computer right now, with the rest of my blood bowl team.

ADDED: I just sat down and flipped through the space marine rulebook. Something I probably should've started doing before I started modeling again... and wow they changed a lot. Makes me almost want to make a Sister's Army...

I'm going to take a look into that as soon as possible. They also released a Dark Angels one right? How's that looking?

DA isn't good because the tacticals are the same as normal marine codex. BT all the way! (what do you think i collect? lol )

My friend, who plays Dark Angels, is constantly apologizing for some cheese rule that he uses when he blows something up and annihilates half my army in a turn for some reason or another.

Deamon Hunters could be fun too. The dex is older I think, but can still pack some punch.

I just read the black templar codex, and yes sire bob, thats what I needed. Not being forced into taking 10 miniatures per squad, is exactly what I needed. And seeing as how my guys basically are Black Templars... it only makes sense. thank you very much for pointing that out to me.

That'll work until that 'dex gets updated... you should get at least a year or two though, Welcome to DD!

Thanks for all the welcomes, and I appreciate the votes and such on my marines. I'm currently working on a what was originally going to be a Captain/Veteran Sergeant for my force, but since I already cut off his old hand and armed him with a plasma pistol I don't really want to rip it off again to just make him either "an initiate with a power sword + bolt pistol" or my emperor's Champion til I either heavily mod out another guy to be my Champion or just buy the metal mini. I'll upload some WIP pictures later.

Here's a look at my Captain/Champion/"I dunno what place he has in my army yet". VERY WIP still, just finished getting the red down, still need to do washes and more highlights, but the idea is there.

Looking good Evildead, and welcome to Dakka! I use a couple of my own home brewed chapters as well (the Sun Crushers and the Harbingers). Both use the regular SM dex however.
