Hello, I've always had a great interest and love for Khorne, especially the old (1st/2nd edition) fluff Chaos Gods who had many aspects, not just "spikes and 13 year old Slipknot fans", before the new Daemons Codex came out and they were retconned into going from four different factions to one big interdimensional teaparty. Khorne has always been a big favourite with me, bold reds and brass colours and martial pride etc. So with that in mind I've been painting a few of the new plastic Bloodleter kits in preparation for a new army. I thought I'd run my list past you guys here to see what you think. The theme is obviously pure Khorne and I'd rather not alter that, but I'm open to all suggestions. If it helps, my regular opponent will be Orks.

The basic idea is my Bloodthirsters can pop tanks or infantry with equal ease, the Bloodletter packs have been kept a decent size so they can hold their own in assaults and won't be glass cannons, and the Soul Grinders give me some decent shooting and more anti-tank in close combat. Also, the whole army splits nicely down the middle for the deep striking, or if I just want to play 1k games!

Besides general comments, I'd also like to know what people think of Flesh Hounds and Blood Crushers in 40k. I haven't taken any in my list but not for any particular reason. So I would like to know how effective they are.

Bloodcrushers are awesome. Don't think about them, just get them. Like all pure Khorne lists, yours is a little fragile, and very susceptible to Mechdar/IG Mech/Any Mech. I'd reccomend giving your soulgrinders the tongue anti-tank ability, and don't bother with the instruments of chaos. The chances of tying a CC with bloodletters are close to nil, they're almost impossible to beat down, especially if they charge and attack first. T5 Bloodcrushers are great, it adds a level of survivability, (not to mention iron hide comes standard) but they're also S5 and have furious charge, like all things Khorne. Unfortunately, they don't count as cavalry, so no bonuses there. Take them vanilla, get them into groups of at least four, and you're good. I hope you're going to keep your Soulgrinders at relative distance from guns, they won't last long against heavy weapons, nor do they have enough firepower to survive them alone.

Do you know what a good squad size for Bloodletters would be? If I took Bloodcrushers, what should I drop? They are fairly expensive, points wise (and insanely expensive to buy!). Would it be worth dropping a few Bloodletters and a Bloodthirster for a unit of 5 or so?

I don't know, it's all up to you. I usually run bloodletters in squads of 15 though. You may want to get rid of a bloodletter squad and replace it with bloodcrushers, but then you no longer have the even split.

Second list looks better. But I think you're gonna find it's easy for opponents to gut your troops choices in objective missions. Still, I commend your dedication to an all khorne list.
I'm a fan of the plastic bloodletters myself.

That's better! Remember though, it doesn't matter if you get as many points as possible into a list as you can. What's important is what's in it, then you can fill in the gaps later.

Any mech army could run rings around me, but I'm only using my Fantasy models collection to make a 40k army. It wouldn't come out for "serious" games (if there are indeed any "serious" games of 40k)
