So I've decided to just use simple green to get all the paint off my Space Marines and repaint them as Dark Angels. I'm not going to play Deathwing or Ravenwing so I just have a couple questions regarding my next purchases.

1. Do I need the DA and SM codex? Or do I only need the SM or vice versa?

2. What do Dark Angels typically run and what's there playstyle?

These are the guys I currently have:
Chaplain w/ Jump Pack
Commander (storm bolter, lightning claw)
Command Squad (Apoth, CC, Banner, Plasma Gun, Vet w/ power sword)
3 Tactical Squads (3 Missile Launchers, 2 flamers, 1 plasma gun)
Veteran Squad(Power fist, Lightning claws, Power Axe, 2 chain swords)
Terminator Squad(Assault Cannon, Heavy flamer, power sword, power fists)
Dreadnought(Twin-Linked Lascannon or Assault cannon, CCW w/ storm bolter)
Predator(Twin-Linked Las, heavy bolter sponsons)
Parts of a Devastator squad(Plasma Cannon, Lascannon, Missle Launcher)
Some Scouts with Snipers
10 Assault Marines(Power fist, Storm Shield)

Its pretty unbalanced and I dont know what kind of list I could form with it or what to use and not use. All help is appreciated.

Don't use the Dark Angels codex if you want to play battle company. Everything the Dark Angels codex can do except Dualwing, the Space Marines codex can do better, cheaper, and with more options. The Dark Angels code is complete garbage for a regular list like yours. The Dark Angels codex isn't getting redone anytime soon, so play as "green marines" and call yourselves Dark Angels.

Alright. Whats the usual 1500 or 1750 list for Space Marines or is there not one single "good" list?

Not really a single good list.

Just remember to take point efficient choices and you'll do fine.

Looking at the contents of AoBR it doesnt like there would be a ton of use considering i already have everything thats in the box, except for the rulebook. Should i just get the SM codex, rulebook and work from there?

That would be a good start, yes. You have the core of a good list, and it's hard to screw up with Space Marines.

There is a couple really solid marine lists.
They are:

Full Mech
Biker Mech
TH/SS terminators
Vulkan lists

All are good lists and depending on what your interested in, I can write up some sample lists.

I'm not very interested in bikers, Vulkan, or alot of Terminators, so I guess I'll see what a Full Mech list looks like.

If you could find a cheap copy of the Dark Angels codex, you could pick it up for fluff reasons and painting ideas. I did this, though I also plan on eventually getting Deathwing and Ravenwing so that I might help in the hunt for the fallen. As for now, I just use the Space Marine codex because as Brother SRM said, it does most things better.
Also, if you need fluff, there are a slew of sites devoted to The Unforgiven, as well as to how much we hate the Space Wolves (not just because they got a new codex first).

My question is why you don't want to run a Ravenwing or Deathwing army? With the switch to objective capturing missions, the Ravenwing can out perform most armies. They can move faster and farther than standard units. If you played Deathwing, you can capture an objective and have fun watching your opponent try to take an objective from a squad of terminators.

The two problems I see
1] Have 4 Elites Terminators, Veterans, Dreadnaught and Scouts
1] Assault Squads do not have Storm Shields

Those are valid points, but I think the strength of the DA is in a Ravenwing or Deathwing. However, the latest DA codex had them cutting edge with the last edition of rules and SM codex. It's still better in some areas. If you look the DA scouts have better stats than codex SM scouts. Dreads can take plasma cannons or multi-melta for free. However, I always stick with the rule that this is all for fun. If you want storm shields in your assault squad check with your opponent and allocate the points.

If you're not going to include Deathwing or Ravenwing, you're giving up what makes DA special and distinctive. There's nothing wrong with that, but from a pure efficiency standpoint, Ultramarines does a non-Deathwing, non-Ravenwing army better. If you like green marines, there's Mentors and Salamanders, along with a host of other "Codex" options. Or, if you play DA just for the Fluff, there's nothing wrong with that, either.

You basically have a demi-company:

(Interrogator) Chaplain w/ Jump Pack
Commander
Command Squad

(Deathwing) Terminator Squad
Dreadnought
Veteran Squad
Scouts with Snipers

3 Tactical Squads (3 Missile Launchers, 2 flamers, 1 plasma gun)

10 Assault Marines(Power fist, Storm Shield)

Devastator squad
Predator

If you add a (Ravenwing) Landspeeder, you'll have "enough" of the DA flavoring to make it obvious.

Also, consider getting a DA Veteran squad and bulking the Devastators to a full 10 models. You'll be able to make "cooler" Veteran & Sergeants with more distinctlively DA bitz.
