I told some people I'd do Asurman next, but I decided to go with Fuegan!

Here are some WIP pics, so tell me what you think. Feel free to criticize, I'm posting these so I can get some good tips on how to get better w/ my painting!
Also, here is the step by step so far!

Update! Did the gold and silver, but the silver might need some darkening as it seems a bit bright. Alson considering doing another highlight on the gold.

Full step by step has been updated too! http://arolkay.com/RecentJobs/Fuegan.html

Really diggin the orange!

The paint scheme kinda bugs me though. You have Black, Bronze, Silver, Orange, Yellow, and you still aren't to base yet. Drop the yellow, as it is going to ruin your chance to get a nice contrast with the orange - switch it to black and you'll have a lot more pop. Just like how his helmet looks with a bit of black (second post compared to first). I suggest a much darker silver too.

Do you have any plans for the gemwork? Emeralds would fit in very nice with the orange. Lotsa pop!

Keep it up, lets see this guy finished!

i agree with the above, dont paint the gems with silver, paint them as an emerald and the model would look alot more eldar! but that ofc is my opinion!

Well firstly, your blending is friggin awesome.
*I cant believe Im going to try and give pointers toa guy that can out paint me by about 50*
Anyways as far as the gold and silver goes. They look a tab bit thick. I used to paint SMs in a silver and gold, so got really good at those 2 colors anyways lol. Anyways, these are colors that doing a drybrush actually is smarter then trying to paint like a GD does. Specially the gold. If you base black, then drybrush some boltgun metal on. Then INCREDIBLY lightly drybrush the gold onto the boltgun metal, it makes the gold shine, but it doesnt look thick, ever. Best part is, since your brushing so lightly, you can end up highlighting it just threw the fact that you can go over edges and certain areas a few times more to build it up.
Give it a shot on a test peice. Youll see it looks pretty damn good

Thanks for the comments guys!

I agree that the silver is too bright, I'm contemplating methods for toning it down.

As to the gems! I have every intention of painting every single gem :-P ... I havent decided the color. I up between blue or green. The scales will be green, so I'm not sure if I want the gems to tie in or be something different.

Very Nice.
I think a green gem done in a different green than the scales may actually help tie everything together. At least a little bit more than adding a new blue element.

Most impressive.

Gah! I have an unhealthy facination with orange! I like it allot so far!

About the (from the photos) silver gems. You could:

1 - Paint them green. Green complements orange very well, or;

2 - Paint them red. That would tie in with the fiery pallette, with the yellow, orange and red. That would be cool.

I look forward to see what's going to happen next! Keep on painting man.

Oh wow! I completely missed what yall were getting at. The gems aren't meant to be silver like they are in the pic. The silver ones are the ones that have a ring around them, like they are mounted in something. The intention is that the mounting will be silver. I have no intention of leaving them completely silver :-P They will be whatever color the rest of his gems are! lol

This is my camera. My WIP pics are taken with one light source, just on my painting table. My final pics are taken with 2 or 3 light sources, and a white sheet as the background. I take pictures from about 8-10 inches away on macro function. I don't bother trying to fill the frame with the model, because with 13.6 MP, i can take the pic from 2 feet away and still crop it to a beautiful web image.
