This is supported by our outing Friday night. We noticed the lines for it were literally out the door, and this was at Alamo, where there weren't any kids.

On the plus side rum + pizza + popcorn + wine + Zombieland equals best movie of 2009! Frazzled personal top 2009. Remember boys and girls Rule #7: Double tap.

In order
Zombieland
Hangover
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Monsters vs. Aliens
the Wrestler

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG
-"Don't mind Frazzled. He's just Dakka's crazy old dude locked in the attic. He's harmless. Mostly."

But did you see it, Frazz?

I will say it is not necessarily a kids movie but more a movie about kids. When I first heard about this film (having loved the book as a wee lad) I could really have cared less. Another Hollywood crap-tacular as they whore-out yet another segment of my childhood, were my only thoughts. Then I found out Spike Jonze was making it. Not that I'm really a fan of his but with him I figured the film could sure be something interesting.

I was not disappointed. Now, as far as finding the story interesting and touching, I guess that really depends on your own childhood. I enjoyed it quite a bit and was thankful this film never fell into the typical "predictably-ironic" pattern of so many other family movies. Actually there was very little that was predictable in this film and; well this next bit may be considered a spoiler so...

Spoiler:
I really liked that the "Wild Things" always seemed a bit dangerous and unpredictable. Like life, sometimes you never know and anything new can be scary. I found that aspect portrayed in this film very refreshing. Also how everything (from Max's point of view) seemed so large.

Fair enough. Although I will argue that you started a "...Wild Things..." thread instead of a Zombieland thread.

Would this film scare 3 and 6 year olds?

3 year old yes, 6 year old, probably but not certain. You'll need to see it first to determine.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Very true! Actually my daughter and I heard more than one <4 year old babbling about their fear a couple times during the film.

Zombieland was excellent. I don't like the look of Where the Wild Things Are, but I did like the book as a small child.

Rob Zombie was actually slated to direct it first, interesting fact.

What? Monsters do not equal furries by the way.
