i can't say i'm a fan. i would have definitely preferred the TWC to be.. well... more organic. you're playing the celestion lions; how about a unit of lion riders? i know that's the obvious answer but sometimes its the best (at least IMHO). the cavalry rules don't really go too well with the looks and expected in game handling of full bikes and there isn't much of a reason to justify a second wound with bikes unless there is a second rider (idea?). i like that you justified some of the changes with the fluff, though. also, nice battle report, btw.

Agreed with warboss. They look great, but to count-as Thunderwolves, its a stretch.

Forever alone

You are aware that there is only one jetbike available in the entire Imperium, and the technology to replicate them is long gone?

Furthermore, I think they just don't fit as Thunderwolf Cavalry. Why would they make them tougher or stronger when they are just jetbikes?

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Why exactly would they have 4As and Rending?

I say they look good and as long as the list/codex is valid then who cares what the 'reason' for them having x attacks with ability y? Its a game that wants people to be creative and the models are creative.

This.

Since no models exist, and I'm sure you're looking for a reason to put those models on the table, I say go for it, as long as the bases are an appropriate size.

Don't get be wrong, they look well done.

But they don't look like thunder wolf cavalry. I think of myself as fairly accepting of "counts as" stuff but this would annoy me if I were to play it.

agreed. i think you did a good job with the conversion and backstory but i just don't see them as TWC. now, if you said they were bloodclaw attack bikes, i'd say "cool!".

For TWC, perhaps big motorbikes with scythed wheels like the chariots of old to justify extra attacks and extra armour plating to make them hard to kill.

I agree, just go ahead and use it . You already put the effort anyways. ( hehe i knew you were making this thing since you asked about
the base on another thread )

Riding those makes more sense than actually having a SM ride a Cyber Wolf.

Roll with it.

The idea of marines riding any animal is ludicrously stupid. Your conversions do away with that and earn a "thumbs up" from this TWC hater. And they look great by the way. It's a great unit rules wise but man what a dumb concept.

why are people so anti TWC counts as models??

there isnt a model made to represent them

what are people supposed to do that want to field them?

stick them on the stupid wolf models GW has produced?

or everyone can do the bloodcrusher/twc spam thats cool

good job on the models nicely done

I think the issue is not so much the "counts as", but that the models represented look too much like other models (bikers) that they could easily be confused for marine bikers vice TWC, especially since some of them seem to have lightning claws and another a thunder hammer.

Now, Bloodcrushers or any large beast work because well, the TWC are riding big beasts, so just substitute whatever beast you want and voila, they are still guys riding giant beasts.

Not that I necessarily have a problem with it, but I would be thinking that they were really bikers the entire game.

I think your jet bikes are very well done and look really good with good basing. I would have no problem playing with them as counts as thunder wolves.

However I don't think they look any thing like what they are supposed to and actually since your chapter has "Lions" as a principal peice of its heraldry I would have loved to have seen space marines on Lions.

As much as I love Space Wolves, the idea of TWC kind of makes me wince. Canis is a cool model but I doubt I'll ever put him in a game. I don't think Marines riding lions would look any better but, TBH, those bikes don't do anything for me, either. Might as well have been Swiftclaws.
