I saw this movie earlier, and it is the scariest thing I've seen since the Blair Witch Project. Just when I was sure that the "Found footage" genre was done with, another gem turns up. Definitely see it with a crowd.

I've been on the fence about this one,as in general I don't care much for the "ghost hunters" sort of thing.
However,I've been told by several friends (whos opinions I trust),that this film is worth a look,so I guess I'll have to check it out.

I have heard it is pretty creepy, and Jett on www.batman-on-film.com said it was worth your time and money.
I am intrigued. IIRC, the movie isn't exactly a ghost movie, but a movie about unexplained, well, paranormal activity.

Very true.

And I do actually want to see Paranormal Activity as the idea of ghosts scare the crap outta me since I was wee and saw The Shining.

It's not "unexplained". They actually explain it pretty early on in the movie.

Spoiler:
It's a demon that follows the girlfriend around.

For those who want to see it, it develops slowly. Kind of really slowly(my wife was bored during the first half to three-quarters of the film). Creepy stuff happens, but they gradually build to the really jarring stuff(the end is pretty jarring, even for me, and I'm used to slow psycho-horrors like this). Despite the slow build, it's a good film.
Spoiler:
I just wish more went on in the backgrounds as there's a lot of what I consider wasted and empty screen and I always expect little background gems hiding out, especially during the night scenes. It would have added a lot to the film for me if they were there. I understand why there isn't, because some of the "activity" is minor things that if they aren't the only thing happening you can easily miss, but I still would have liked something other than a sleeping couple in some parts, especially when it's just noises being recorded.

The ending's done really well
Spoiler:
but the "I know someone's watching this" look before destroying the camera really cut through the suspension of disbelief, especially as you know it's in there for the audience and it's supposed to be a "found video" movie.

For anyone that thinks my wife being bored during half the movie is a ringing endorsement for not seeing the movie, let me just say that all night after we saw it, everytime the dogs jumped off the bed and made a thud or there was a whisper in the background of the movie she runs to go to sleep in the bedroom, she'd jolt awake and ask me what it was. It got to her a lot more than she'll admit.

Let me tell you about my experience of the Blair Witch Project. Not only did I sit in my uncomfortable movie seat until the groundsquirrels asked me to leave just because it didn't occur to me to get up, but when I exited the theater, I somehow expected it to be cold, wet and raining outside even though it was a blistering hot august afternoon. That movie, Paranormal Activity and The Exorcist are the only movies that have ever had that effect on me. Most "horror" movies I find to be actually quite hilarious. (Especially the Final Destination series, which is a live-action Coyote and Roadrunner) However, Drag Me To Hell did have some really excellent atmospheric sound work.

The wife and I saw BWP. We laughed our keisters off. We kept joking that they would be freaking out about being lost and at any moment you'd see an 18 wheeler drive by in the background. Towards the end we were hoping, praying, that something would kill off the female character. Like an annoying foot fungus, you just wanted her to die.

Maybe in other areas its scary, but if you ever camped it was just lame.

My girlfriend has not been able to sleep for a week and some change since she saw this stupid movie. It's not worth seeing if you tend to get scared, I know of a few other people who reacted this way to it. If you have ANY doubts, leave it alone, otherwise you might enjoy it. Who really knows :p

I must say that this movie impressed me as well. I am a big fan of horror movies and have been looking for a movie to give me that "chill" for years now. This one did just that. yes, it starts off slow.. but once things get going.. you will not be dissapointed.

After the movie, i even had to turn on the light to go get something out of the garage. It is the little things in the movie that got me. Like the breathing and the little noises.

My girlfriend is still trying to get over it.

Must see if you are into these things. If not, then stay away.. it will find a place in your imagination and haunt you for a while.
