OK, I tried to keep the comments from my last attempt at a Primarch conversion in mind while creating this. So here goes. Behold Primarch Vulkan of the Salamanders!

Again, sorry for the poor pic quality but my camera is old and I won't be getting a new one for a while yet.

sadly agreed it's just way to blury to be able to tell anything.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

You can see it if you squint...kinda.
It looks awesommee! I like the base lava, and the lava trimmings of his armour. Also, the sword + banner with head is awesome. Is that a GK sword? Still, it looks good.

Looks legit but impossible to tell from the picture. Try the macro function, and/or move the camera further away and zoom.

OK, I tried a different setting on the camera to attempt to make it clearer. Does this help?

Better, and from what I can tell it looks good. Grab a new camera, they are cheap these days. I'd really like to see it in clearer detail.

Yea spend some money for no reason other then to appease the internet nerds!

Put some white paper behind it, so the background is completely white, get better lighting and stop shaking when taking the picture. Those will help you tremendously.

Yeah, I think I'll pass on that.

This time the blurryness is actually from you holding the camera on a close up. Use a mini tripod and the timer on the camera. If you cant get a minitropod (about $5 at walmart) then set it down on the table or a box, aim it, hit the button and walk away for a few seconds. Set the camera timer for about 5 seconds. Keep using the Macro setting on the camera and this should make a viewable pic. Next you have to work on the lighting but you are closer. At least this time I can tell a mini was in the pic hehe.

I do what the voices in my wifes head say...

Deffinetly good tips there. Also dont think that just because the macro is on, that it means you can be 3 inches away from the mini. All cameras have a certain distance that they should stay at when using, otherwise it will blur like a mofo

take it outside in the light tomorrow hold the camera 4 to 6 inches away dont zoom in, and let it focus then take the pic and check it.. will take some time but youll get the hang of it all soon.

Second camera feels like a webcam/cellphone cam to me. Take white paper, put it behind the model with the first cam, back camera up, zoom in and focus on the model. That is my recommendation. Also the second pic is very shaky looking, prop your camera on something when you take a picture.

That may be true, my sarcasm aside, not everyone has money to run out and just randomly buy a new camera. That was kind of my just there.

Set the camera down on something sturdy and use the same settings as last time. It looks like it's only blurry this time because the camera moved a bit at the time you took the photo. Don't even need a tripod if you can't find one, just get some books or a box.

Also, from what I can see from the last pic it looks good

Maybe the blurriness is due to the heat haze emanating from Vulkan? (sorry, quiet Friday afternoon in the office).

Ahem, from what I can see, it looks good. Nice lava effect on the base

it's wrong to tell him to spend mone when he just needs to figure out a little more with the camera. Some cameras mind you are horrible for taking pics, and personally I have been trying to improve my own pics on models without dumping loads of cash. For this I contacted dave taylor and asked him some questions being as his models always take great pics, and he told me about lighting boxes for $50.00 on ebay and how his camera isnt a expensive one because I thought he had one of those nice $1800 canon camers. So once he figures out a little more how to use it I think he willbe fine.

Most digitals have a little flower looking button if you hit this buddy it will help take close up pics as you are trying to do. Also like I said try for natural light for now I think that will help you out. Take lots of practice pics till you get the hang of it. Personally for every pic I post I have probably taken 4 to 5 ones I utterly hate. So to all of you kinda harping on him weather in jest or actually give our fellow dakkite the respect you would want for yourself, because from what I can make out I think it looks solid and I personally look forward to seeing some pics once he gets it all sorted out. Cheers

It looks like an absolutely fantastic model - conversion work and paintjob.

I wish we could get a better picture though...

I agree. This is prolly the most epic Vulkan ever, but his damn lava heat waves (that made me laugh BTW) Why do they have to live in a lava world.

From what you can see of the picture, it looks good. I think everyone in in agreement! I think the issue is the lighting of the camera. There is a tutorial on making a light box in the tutorial section, it may be a cheap way to fix the pictures. A whole lot cheaper than buying a new camera. I look forward to a clearer picture of this...I think it definitely deserves another look.

I made my lightbox from a cardboard box (REALLY?!?!?) laid it on its side and cut the top off. Then taped clean white paper on the whole inside. Then its either good sunlight, or a bright camera flash/house light. Works pretty decently. And it cost me.... well free

So it's wrong to buy a digital camera but it's okay to spend 50$ on a box with white paper that you can make for free? I'm so confused.

The camera I bought was MAYBE 100$, and I use it for far more than just models. I've constructed (but misplaced) a lightbox that cost me maybe half a cent (Canadian, too!). I mean if you're spending zillions of dollars on models/paint/supplies/terrain/etc, why not spend a bit of extra cash on a camera to document your work more effectively. With the combination of a homemade lightbox you can get outstanding results for minimal cost. PLUS you can use it for other things like say... going out with friends somewhere? Take a picture! Going on a vacation? More pictures! See a random object that looks neat and feel your artistic side coming out? Boom picture! If you buy a 50$ lightbox, you can uhh... put things in it. Perhaps use it as a paper weight? Maybe a piece of terrain?

Apologies if that sounds a bit harsh, and by all means if you can get better results by making your own lightbox/fiddling around with the settings on your current camera, then all the power to you. All I'm saying is it may be a worthwhile investment to pick up a new camera (if you can't get your current one working to your desired standards) for not only Warhammer models, but real life as well.

Now with all that said, as I mentioned before... from what I can see on the model, it does look very good. So if you can manage some better pics, do it up, as I'm sure we would all like to see them Keep it up!
