You can build a light box out of a cardboard box, some baking parchment or tracing paper and some desk top lamps.
What you need is a tripod (eg a gorrilla pod is cheap) and a self timer so your'e not touching the camera when the picture is taken.
If you're using a low quality camera eg a mobile phone, don't be affraid to leave the flash on.

From what I can see so far, its amazing.

I just reached over the table this thing was on and accidentally hit it with my elbow, causing it to fall several feet onto the floor. All that work...

Fortunately the floor in the room I work in is carpeted (which is why I work it it), and only the banner came off. Should be a simple enough fix with some glue. However, I'm not going out again today and I ran out of glue working on one of my other projects. So you guys will have to wait until tomorrow at least for more pictures if you want them.

Take pictures under natural light. Direct sunlight is usually too harsh, but in the shade or near an open window works best.

This will make the colors on the model much closer to real life and much easier to see. It will also get rid of that awful grain you're getting from the camera setting itself to a really high ISO due to poor lighting.

A light box will also do wonders, and it's incredibly easy to make.

Even so, I have to ask what the point is of posting up pics at all then. If he doesn't want to "appease the internet nerds" as you put it, then why did he post the pics up anyway?

If we can't see the damn model and can't really offer any real criticism or make any comments whatsoever based on the poor quality of the pics, then why bother? Especially if you don't even care what we have to say.

As to the camera, does it have a macro function? Setting in on a solid surface to take the pic, and using a macro function will solve everything :-P

To be quite honest, I don't actually remember. I've been working on this thing for months, mostly painting it to make it look just right (that lava effect took like 12 tries to get right). I spent so much time on it that I don't actually remember how to make it in the first place. If it were destroyed, I'd have to go through the whole process again, starting from scratch.

So it's wrong to buy a digital camera but it's okay to spend 50$ on a box with white paper that you can make for free? I'm so confused.

-I am not trying to say it's wrong hell I was checking out cameras last night at best buy honestly, what I am saying is the people comming across harshly on this towards him.. The guy is slowly getting the hang of it, and instead of bashing the pic why not help him out a bit and give some solid explanation thats all. If in the end they want to go buy a newer and better one then by all means, but that is that persons decision and one not for us to knock on and in some levels force.

Due to a battery meltdown I recently had to upgrade my camera. I can't explain how much better the pics now, though I understand that money can be an issue and not everyone can go out and by another digital camera. your stuff looks really good and a better camera could only help show the time and energy you put into all the detail.

I think you can get better cuality pics by having a better light sorce and changing the white balance settings in your camera, there are preset settings in there so just the one that fits in best depending on what type of light your using like lightbulb or something like that.

And for the lighbox thing... Im betting you have a with tshirt lieing around some were, every one has one. Just hang it over your monitor and desk and if you have bendable desktop lamp try and bend it so it shines direktly at your mini, if you dont have a bendable desktop lamp you could always use a flashlight and shine it att the model and find the right range to use it from.
Option nr: 3 if you dont have a bendable lamp is to llie the model down and find the right angle from up to down were it will look as if its standing.
Take many pictures of the model and just play around with different ranges to take the pic from.
You can use the windows photo galery that opens your pics and to crop the pic and change the brightness of the pic to best resemble you mini

When i take pics i just have i white background and "floor" for the model and use my desktop lamp.
You can check my gallery for pic quality, the camera i used for them is from a K8ooi cellphone camera and thats 4 year old 3,2Mp.
You just have to learn in what way your camera works best and its limitations and just work whit it.



And for your vulkan i think it looks nice, just need to get the pic a little brighter. (if you crop the pic it will get more "in your face" depending on picture reslution)
