Hello from New Zealand, long time lurker (3 years now), first time poster.

Curious about the rules in Codex:CSM in regards to multiple weapons. It seems that most marines (Death Guard, Noise marines, standard CSM squads) all have a bolt pistol, CCW, and a botler. Does this confer an extra attack in CC or would you just pick whichever weapon choice you prefer? Because i cant see it working if they had all 3 with the WYSIWYG system.

Cheers all

It gives them an extra attack.

It's perfectly doable WYSIWYG. Bolt Pistols in Holsters, Knives in Scabbards or Bolters on a Sling. Or Just 3 Arms. It is Chaos after all.

Grey Hunters have this too.

Also, Welcome to Dakka, I am the Resident Troll here on YMTC. (^_^)

On the WYSIWYG problem, since those options are standard gear, and have no option to be changed/removed, then modelling them isn't as vital. WYSIWYG is really meant to make options visible, so you can tell if those are 10 chosen with 5 plasmaguns, or 10 chosen with 5 power fists. You'd react differently to either set, so you'd want to know. But 10 CSM will always have bolter + pistol/ccw, so it doesn't matter if you can see them on the models since you know they will always have that.

So will that equal 3 attacks on the charge? (Obviously not if they fired during the shooting phase, but thats besides the point )

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

Correct and to maximize the potential of the bolt pistol since it is an assault weapon you fire one shot with the bolt pistol then charge in to assault.

Grey Hunters are better though.

They have Counter Attack, so they have 3 Attacks WHEN CHARGED most the time.

They have Cheap Drop Pods that are nigh un-DeepStrike-Mishapable.

They have the Mark of the Wulfen, where one guy gets D6+1 RENDING attacks + the bonus for Counter Attack.

Also they have 2 Meltas that cost 2.5 points each

They're okay. You can easily get away with squeezing a unit of 8-10 in a competitive list. They can be nice to join together multiple assaults for you, and to beat up light infantry. And if they show up on turn 2 and you're not in range yet, you can have them hold an objective on your side of the table. If you put them in 4+ cover they can just Go To Ground all game when people shoot at them, getting 3+ cover saves and not going anywhere because they're Fearless.
