Alright, I am planning on making a Space marine chapter consisting of the Black Templar, and the Emperor’s Children (some of the few that didn't convert to chaos). the fluff behind this is unknown so far, I'll look more into it later.

I would simply like some posts about possible fluff I could use behind the chapter and also if there are any flaws with my idea.

Thanks in advance!

Here’s an idea of what they may look like:

...no. The Loyalists from the Legions who turned to Chaos formed the Grey Knights. Those who survived, at least...

Then consider that Black Templars are a highly zealous chapter, and would go nuts if they knew who founded the revered Grey Knights.

Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

As far as I know there were Emperor’s Children that did not convert to chaos.

Yes, and they helped found the Grey Knights, just like the Loyalist Death Guard and World Eaters who were not killed by the Traitor Marines.

The Grey Knights were founded much later, and they are not from regular Marine stock, they're all psykers

Cheese Elemental is right. although your color scheme i think might look really cool, you just would need to come up with some slightly different fluff for it maybe black templar/the emperors fancy lads?

If loyalist EC remained running around after the heresy and didn't join the GK, then they sure as hell wouldn't wait until the BT were founded and then decide "hey let's join this chapter (doesn't ever happen) and form a hybrid chapter (no) and split the paint scheme 50-50 (why).

It's your fluff you can always come up with a reason for anything, sounds pretty far fetched though so while it is fine fluff wise, it's just not very cool.

An easier approach to your DIY (do it yourself) Chapter would be to create your fluff from wholecloth (stealing from other chapters as you like).

So, in this instance, you could come up with a name for your Chapter, then decide how it fights.

From your outline sketch above, it seems you're looking at:
A crusading chapter
Who values martial excellence and strives for perfection
Possibly monastic?

As far as tactics employed, how do you see them working?
Foot slogging close combat (a la BT)?
Mounted/mech?
Fast Assault?
Gunline?

Then you might want to pick which chapter your chapter is descended from.
Templars?
Ultramarines?
Imperial Fists?

If you think about your chapter as a whole, what it does, how it does it, what is its doctrine, etc. you can then use whichever codex you want to to play the games. And it avoids the 'this chapter is half Templar/half Emperor's Children' 'nu'uh, that'd never happen' feedback like you see here.

Ultimately, get creative, and stick with it. As mentioned, its your chapter, your color scheme. Don't let anyone else tell you what or how to do it. And when you get to painting, put it in the modelling and blog forums. I'd like to see how the scheme gets executed.

Good luck!

IIRC the templars dont have any (maybe just a few) ofshoot chapters because they don't follow the codex pretty much at all they just go around crusading. But they may have one or two daughter chapters and you could easily just say you were split from one of them.

IMO, you're going to have real problems reconciling the Fluff, because BT are pretty hardcore anti-Chaos, and EC are pretty hardcore Chaos.

Why not go with Purple Templars, wearing dark purple armor with white shoulders and a dark purple cross?

I hear people say this all the time but I've never found any substantiation for it? What book or Codex is this in? All the stuff I've read suggests those Marines formed the Inquisition, not the Grey Knights (especially since all Grey Nights are psychic, which the known survivors from the traitor legions are not). What am I missing?

The remainders of the traiter chapters helped start the Inquisition. The Grey Knights have no official parent, although it's hinted that they came from the Emperor.
