For those who can't access the GW website from their current location, here's the same info with pics which I had posted in the "Fortress, forces and pink boxes" topic thread earlier today.

The following new items are available for pre-order as of today, prices shown here in US dollars:

- The Fortress of Redemption (aka "Indomitable Fortress") ($99.00)
- Ork Megaforce ($200.00)
- Space Marine Megaforce ($175.00)
- Orcs and Goblins Brigade ($190.00)
- Empire Brigade ($190.00)
- Citadel Realm of Battle Gameboard Extension ($90.75)
- Imperial Warzone: game board and scenery bundle ($748.50)

and the Lord of the Rings Legion of the Eye models that have been available for pre-order for some time, 9 different sets, are released tomorrow, Oct. 24.

The Fortress of Redemption set contains one multi-part plastic Fortress of Redemption scenery piece. This 91-piece set includes a twin-linked lascannon interceptor gun, two heavy bolters and a missile silo. The main tower stands 14" high and the whole kit is 24" wide when measured annex to annex.

Wow, if you buy 3 sets of the Expansion you get a nice flat table without the annoying built in hills for cheaper than the Realm of Battle on its own. Here's betting GW raises the price on this expansion!

Remember, the $290 US for the full Realm of Battle includes a $15 shipping charge. If purchased in a shop it's $275. Of course, GW is offering free shipping right now on all orders over $15, so by mail order it would be cheaper to purchase three expansions.

Those don't look like "expansions" to me... It looks like they just pulled the 2 flat sections out of the set and are selling them as a pair.

GW figure people will still pay more for the skulls pit. I fact I would pay many more times the asking price just to get that many SKULLZ!!! Is there a Skulls density ~ price relationship I should be aware of? Is that how a GW board meeting goes?

"Damn, we've got this new figure but we can't think of a way to convince our fanboys that it's worth twice as much as everything else? Any suggestions?"
"You could add some skulls sir..."
"We always add skulls son, can't you think of something different?"
"Umm...we could add even more skulls that usual..."
"More skulls eh? That's really quite clever, take a good ide, and then improve on it, we could put "with added skullz" on the adverts too. Blimey, I think you're on to something there m'lad."
"We could add extra spikes too..."
"Woah lad, you're on a roll now, you after my job? You're a marketing genuis!"

Have i missed something, or can you get all the stuff in the imperial warzone cheaper if you buy it seperately? 2 strongpoints, bastion, defence line, 3 moonscapes and the fortress comes out about £2.30 cheaper.

I get a savings of around $56 dollars

Imperial Warzone contains one Citadel Gameboard, five Bastions, seven Aegis Defence Lines, two Skyshield Landing Pads, a Fortress of Redemption and three sets of Moonscapes for $748.50 (before Taxes)

Add all that stuff up individually...

Citadel Realm of Battle Gameboard
Price: $290.00

Aegis Defence Line x 7
Price: $138.25

Imperial Bastion x 5
Price: $148.75

Skyshield Landing Pad x 2
Price: $79.00

Fortress of Redemption
Price: $99.00

Moonscape set x 3
Price: $51.00

GRAND TOTAL according to GW's website shopping cart: $806.00 (before taxes)

Figure you get one of the landing pads and some moonscapes for free <shrug>. Better than nothing if you actually want ALL of that stuff and haven't bought any of it yet.

10 Goldswords - 1 box - $41.25
8 Knights - 1 box - $35
5 Pisotliers - 1 box - $22

Total - $255.25 ==> $65 savings (~25%). Slightly better than getting things individually at the Warstore.

Good question , because if its direct only , its still cheaper to buy the battle forces ( which mega forces is built on anyways )

I think they tend to be direct only. I remember being unable to order the HE army box from the Warstore when I started up WFB last year .

Both Army Boxes and Megaforces were available in stores last time around when they did them.

You fell for GW's pricing tricks. There's no savings at all, actually, if you use 2 Strongpoints for 4 of the Bastions and 6 of the Defence lines:

Citadel Realm of Battle Gameboard - $290.00
Imperial Strongpoint x2 (4 bastions, 6 defense lines) - Yes, it's still available - $180
Aegis Defence Line x1 - $19.75
Imperial Bastion x 1 - $29.75
Skyshield Landing Pad x 2 - $79.00
Fortress of Redemption - $99.00
Moonscape set x 3 - $51.00

Total: $748.50

Now, that said, having played on the Realm of Battle board, I absolutely hate it. On the RoB hills, models slide around on the hill slopes very easily, and fall over frequently.

If you the table space for a RoB board, get a roll up mat or sheet of felt and some modular hills for a lot less money.

I have always wondered, do the mega/battleforce kits come with all the extra bitz and pieces you would get if buying each unit separately or are they more like AoBR where you just get the basic units?

They contain the same contents as the box sets they are derived from.

It used to be years ago that you could get army deals, which were the boxes and blisters, in another box. When I bought my Steel Legion army deal, and 3rd edition Tyranids army set, they came like this - bunch of blisters and boxes in one large box.

With the battleforces, megaforces, and other sets nowadays, you get the sprues and instruction booklets from the individual model box sets, but all packaged together in one box rather than separately. In some rare cases, like the Necron Warrior Phalanx, it may also include a metal model in a special mini-blister packaging (snap-shut plastic blister, no cardboard backing).
