I mean the Megaforce, and if you haven't seen them, here

Orkses:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1020046&prodId=prod320001a

Marines:
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1020048&prodId=prod320002a

I am getting the Marine Megaforce, and will either make A a new chapter or B making a chapter that does not get much love.

Which is the least played chapter?

If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent I'd have all my money back.

Imperial fists are totally still around. I've played against 2 fist armies and seen another. Pick something nobody has ever ever heard of. Preferably one that's hard to pronounce, like Apostles of MinthRos or the Excoriators or maybe even the dreaded Patriarchs of Ulixis!

I've seen them up for pre-order on discount sites.. makes justifying not buying them all the more harder.

I won't be, but that's because after 20 years in the game there's not a lot more I need.

I already have a full battle company of SM - in addition to all of the tanks/transports/pods and dreads, bikes and speeders.

Orks, OTOH have never interested me.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I don't know about other online stores but maelstrom has them for about 10 pounds less then on the GW site.

Marines:

Orks:

http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.php?act=pro&pre=gwk_40k_ork_ess_211_000

I myself won't be buying them, as I want to focus more on the nids and with their new codex destined for the first part of the year I'll be happy to wait.

If GW does decide to follow a progresion with "mega force" boxes,I'd consider picking up a Guard set as well,as for the two they have currently slated,I have no interest what so ever in an SM army and I'm all ready up to my knee pits in Orkz,so,no sale.

Coupled with an online discount, the Ork box is mighty tempting.
That said, I already have four of the old-style Warbikez to paint up and a basically brand new battalion. If only I had known about this, I could have bought it instead.

Anyway, I don't collect Space Marines but I do have an Assault on Black Reach set.
Roughly what point size would the Space Marine Megaforce take you up to?

I can imagine with the holiday season coming around they are really gonna be pushing AOBR on new players and these megaforces on top of it.

I'm thinking they are just going to stick to orks and space marines megaforces because the 5th edition box set is orks and space marines.

I'm not grabbing either of these, but I am seriously considering bumping my order up to two Fortresses of Redemption...

Fixed that for you.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Very nice. Now THAT'S the way to bulk up your army - but fast! I am impressed by all the dakka - especially in the form of Bikes. Boyz out the ears are nice for the new player - you could make 2 20x units of Boyz there and 1 5x unit of Lootas or Burnas. The trukk gives them a RIDE.

The only downside - no Warboss and no Nobz. Having these would make it an AWESOME starter set for a new player. But then, all that is needed really is the addition of an Ork Warboss to fix that, considering all the dakka you get here, that's a minor point. I suppose 5x Lootas or Burnas is likewise never really enough, another minor point, but at least makes a playable unit and the Trukk might help to get them to battle before they are shot (especially burnas).

Considering how dirt-cheap Orks are (points) any self-respecting Ork Player can easily find a use for 40 more Boyz. The max for a standard FOC would be, what? 180? And that just covers grunt troops.

I do go on, but seeing all that Dakka has made my day.

Ork box contains approx £150 of stuff and the marine box has approx £135 so a decent discount compared to most of GW's bundles.
