Hey dakkaites,

I recently started a blog of my Imperial Fists which you can see here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/255915.page however as I am wont to do, i lost inspiration with boring old marines.

So I decided to rekindle an old fire and return to my traitor guard with a view to finishing all the models i currently own. I originally planned to do a straight up undivided traitor force however the Lord of Decay has swayed me to the side of pestilence, the Lord of Battles has lured me with promises and i have taken the plunge to do a fully dedicated Nurgle and Khorne Traitor Guard army. But, not to be outdone, Tzeentch stuck his/her/its scheming hands in and i was left with a force of Nurgle, Khorne and Tzeentch Daemons as well.

If that was too confusing, here's a round-up of what i have to do (green being finished, orange started, red not built/converted yet/started painting yet) [inspiration for this way of organisation goes to nathonicus and oshunai and any others here on Dakka]:

-Lord of Change Tz'Kul'Anak
-Skulltaker
-10 Bloodletters

-10 Plaguebearers
-12 Horrors
-3 Flamers
-Nurgle Blight Drone

-Nurgle Company Command Squad
-Plague Marine Exalted Champion
-Apostate Preacher of Nurgle
-3 Rogue Psykers of Nurgle

-Nurgle Miltia Platoon (1 Command Squad, Militia Squad A, Militia Squad B)
-33 Plague Zombies
-20 Mutants
-Nurgle Bane Wolf w/ Blight Cannon
-Possessed Nurgle Leman Russ
-Nurgle Basilisk

-Khorne Militia Platoon (1 Command Squad, Militia Squad A, Militia Squad B)
-Khorne Armoured Fist Squad
-Khorne Leman Russ Batlle Tank

-8 Plague Marines
-Plaguereaper of Nurgle

Obviously I would like to get waaaaaay more but my wallet is preventing me atm and i would like to paint up all of this before recruiting any new goodies.

I would also love to get a dedicated Skulltakers/Apostles of Contagion C:CSM army, and some things for apoc like a Brass Scorpion (not FW), Khorne Tower of Skulls, Nurgle Plague Tower and Slaughterfiend Bloodpack but these things will only be after Xmas if i get round to painting everything.

I'm also going to do a fluff/ backstory update a bit later on but im kinda stuck, any ideas anyone? (i don't really want to do a boring generic fall from the emperor's grace story so any 'out of the box' thoughts would be great)

Cheers and updates of finished things, if i can find the fething camera, later,

Vitruvian

Right, if found the camera so heres the start of the servants of decay:

First up, the Company Command Squad with lascannon team and plasma gun, also have the option to have either a vox or a chaos banner depending on how the mood takes me.

Next is the Plague Marine Exalted Champion, this is the most work i've ever done on a model and i'm quite pleased with how he turned out. He's supposed to be a plague marine in power armour but i felt they wouldn't be seen dead leading a bunch of ragtag traitors so i figured i'd make a more mortal leader and let his nurgly constituion explain away the fact that he doesn't look to have a 3+ sv. He's got a GS'd belly with pipe leading to pus tanks and a pipe from same tanks to a respirator on his mouth, GS'd armour plates to stop him looking cadian and a nasty plague flail grafted onto his right arm. There's also some daemonic tissue joining the pipes to the tanks and the tanks to his back. I also thought a big base would be apt and added the sewage pipe to tie it in to the nurgle theme (not that that was really necessary but there you go!)

The Apostate Preacher, I think i'll run him with the Plague Zombies or Mutants to beef them up in CC.

And finally the Rogue Psykers including my favourite model so far (the floating one). Why 3? Because 3 psykers are 3 times more likely to get possessed than 1, and thats gotta be fun, right?!!

In case any of you were wondering, i'm using Imperial Armour Volume Seven: The Siege of Vraks Part 3 Servants of Decay list for the rules for this army.

And tomorrow? Well, there's vile daemonancy afoot! Stay tuned.

Vitruvian out.

not to bad on the painting think you should try and thin down the paints a little more for a smoother painting. ONe thing I did notice is a lot of the models seem warped and what not and thought to tell you if they come that way their is a very easy way to repair them. Just take some very hot/boiling water and if you dip them in for even 2 seconds will all the resin to go almost limp. This will entail you being able to reset the weapons and let dry to harden again.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I would thin down the paint if i could really be arsed, they're not GD standard by any means (lol), they're just average as there's so many of them i'd go mad trying to paint them all to the best of my ability!! As to the warped weapons, I did try that multiple times but it didn't seem to work, I'm not too fussed as i can just say Nurgle warped the metal!!!! Besides, it's only on the Vox and the Apostate Preacher out of all my models so i'd count that as a fair deal.

So, onto the next update. Daemons have been summoned by foul daemonancy, so I give you Tzeentch, Khorne and Nurgle Daemons. I did have a squad of 10 Daemonettes, a Fiend and the Masque but I really hate the new Slaanesh Daemon sculpts by GW and i don't have the time to acquire or convert my own good-looking Slaanesh Daemons so I'll be selling them I think.

First up we have the Khorne Daemons, with Skulltaker and 10 Bloodletters:

SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!!!!!!!

And the Tzeentch contingent (I have a Lord of Change but he fell apart a while back so I have to remake him!):

And the Icon i sculpted for the Horrors

And finally the Nurgle Plague bearers:

And thats all the painted models I have so far. The Plaguebearers are still WIP but i need some input about them. Should i redo the skin of the Plague bearers to that of the Rogue Psykers/ Apostate Preacher/ Exalted Champion?? I don't think they look diseased enough and i don't really want to do the generic Nurgle Daemons scheme.

Next up should be the finished Nurgle Militia Command, and maybe some modelling WIPs.

Thankyou for looking and please comment if you view the thread

Cheers, Vitruvian

Whta's 'strage' about them exactly. Thanks for the nice comment but i'd prefer if you could elaborate/ be more specific when you post. (sorry, didn't mean to sound so mean )

Update time again, yay!!

Firstly I finished the Nurgle Militia Platoon Command Squad (although the plasmagunner is missing becuase i broke my can of spray paint, should get more tomorrow and finish him off by then).

Also got round to basing the 9 mutants I was using as a PBS when I was using the Guard codex. There is one unpainted and ten more coming in the post for me to make. That will take me up to the legal size of 20, and i'll have a go at grafting a couple of flamers to them as well. Pics:

The one on the left of this picture is one of my favourite models so far, it just looks as if he can't go anywhere without his 'teddy'!!

And, my infantry get joined by armour today, in the form of two russes, a hellhound, a chimera and a Plaguereapr super-heavy tank. The Khorne Russ and Chimera are ready for undercoating (the Russ will be done in an imperial camo scheme, and the chimera will get a mottled red scheme when I get FWs model masterclass, an airbrush and some powders ) The Nurgle Hellhound with Blight cannon supplied by reserves of TP-III in the rear will get a factory basecoat colour if I can decide whether i like the current nozzle - any ideas for a better one ??? The Nurgle Russ and Plaguereaper have yet to be finished with GS. Please note, none of the tanks have been undercoated yet, they were bought painted and I didn't get round to stripping them (and won't either )

Sorry about the blur on this one, damn shaky hands

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, anyone for pus?!

So that's it for today, and that's also all I have wothy of showing atm. So in the next post, expect less pics, the plasma gunner for the Militia Command and a Nurgle Militia Squad. There may also be a couple of Plague Marines, depends how productive I am.

A final point

I could really do with feedback on this point, as i want to finish them now.

Thanks guys, you've just given me inspiration to go write some fluff, have a gold trophy!

Chief Librarian Vaako wrote: Interested in how the superheavy will come out

Thanks, just needs a bit of GS work before being painted like my DG, though that will probably be at the end of my to-do list. You can have a trophy too!

Also, any thoughts about the plaguebearers skin, should i go the yellow/ green/ brown colour like the guy with the flail or should i leave them as is?

Cheers,

Vitruvian

Steal away my friend, ideas are for sharing!! If you want the ins and outs of how i did it, it was:

~Basecoat of Camo Green
~Highlight Golden Yellow (Leave Camo Green in recesses)
~Wash with Vermin Brown and water (probably between 1:5 water:paint or 1:10, varying this will vary final colour)
~If you want, re-highlight with 1:1 Camo Green:Golden Yellow (only hit prominent areas)

Hope that helps

I'll get to that when the majority of the infantry is done. Im really gonna' try and do these properly, so heavy weathering and FW model masterclass techniques are in order. Also gonna' use an airbrush for the first time so it could all go wrong

The Apostate Preacher and the Rogue Psykers would be ideal for use in my own army, what set are they from? Namely, I want the Nurgle top to the Apostate Preacher's staff to use as speakers on my Noise Marine Hot Rod Hearse and the Rogue Psykers are EXACTLY the look I'm going for with the cultist element of my small Slaanesh force. I'm chronically out of touch with GW releases, hence the noobish questions.

@DC Awesomesauce! Link saved for future reference, at those prices I'm going to have to get the Rogue Psyker pair at the very least... though purchasing the 4-8 Apostate Preachers I need for the speakers would be a bit more than I'm willing to fork out... which is annoying, the bit I want is perfect... ah well, the search continues.

Fluffdate time.

I've been working on this all night, stupid word and paint :( so be nice!!!

This is the first part of the fluff for why my Vitruvian Guard turned to Chaos worship. First is just a bit of background about the planet and it's binary system, Xylaxia.

I will, in short order, write actual stories/ background.

This is the binary system of Xylaxia, where Vitruvia is found

Great start to a blog. I really like your banner for the horrors unit.

Those FW models look really nice - I love the guy who looks like he used to be a Catachan trooper but now is struggling with possession.

As far as the skin on the Plaguebearers goes, I wouldn't repaint them, but would probably throw a wash of devlan mud over them, followed by some Thrakka green or Badab black, and then sponge a highlight color on their most distend parts. (Bellies, etc.)

Looking good.

Yays, look what i've got. Thats an airbrush, compressor and FWs Model Masterclass.

This means that tanks are the order of the day as soon as i can get enough money to get some powders, Jonsons Klear and Tamiya paint thinner. Maybe a dremel as well, after all, if you're going to do it you may as well do it right.

Also, I don't know how I overlooked this but it seems mortar squads taken with the company command squad have the option of taking chemical shells for 15pts, giving them S1 AP3 blast wounding on 2+ with poison. Thats really awesome, so i think ill make 6 mortar teams as well, 2 mortar squads.

Been busy at the gaming club today, so no painting updates but I did win 2-1 in Blood Bowl!!!
