Just joined Dakka so I could say great job. Enjoying the show 2 hours in. I'm like a krak addict that finally got his fix after the three week hiatus.

"Daddy needs some of that feel good juice"

Keep up the interviews. Its great to get a glimpse into the professional aspects of the hobby.

Great show guys.

I asked the question (poorly, as I'm tired from a cold) on the D6G site, but I couldn't find the haiku's in the episode. I listened to the whole show and heard the teaser about the haiku's, but never heard the results. Did I miss something?

I especially liked the Painted Figs interview. The information about dealing with Sri Lankan customs officials was fascinating.

EDIT: Never mind. I'm not crazy. Just checked the site again and saw the alert. Thanks guys.

Sorry about that.

I saw that, after I posted of course.

I've tried downloading the episode again, but I am still getting the 3 hour 15 minute version that's 179MB in size.

I'll try again tomorrow.

Take care.

Great episode, although that Space Hulk fire story smelled a bit like BS.

The Painted Figs interview was really interesting!

Another great episode guys. D6 is always a treat.

One question though. We've heard you guys review Warmachine. We've heard you guys review Malifaux. I'd like to know, if you had to recommend ONE skirmish-sized mini game for a person who's drifted away from minigames and almost wholly into boardgames, which one would it be? I'm looking for something with a low model count, fun, intuitive rules, and a fairly fast play time (around an hour if possible). I'm not expecting something as light as Heroscape or Battlelore, but those are two of my favotires for "mini" games. I drifted away from 40k because, despite the AMAZING fluff, the rules have always bugged me; fiddly and hampering. I LOVE painting figs. I like the look of the jacks, but I'm a big horror fan so...

My guess is either Warmachine or Malifaux would be ok choices, but as folks who have played both, and I've played neither, what one would you recommend and why?

And the rest of the Dakka gang can chime in as well. I'm looking for opinions from folks who know the games.

Happy gaming,
M13

Hey guys,
Great show. Couldn't see a link to the Skirmish Campaign books that Raef is so hot on at this point. Here it is:
http://mysite.verizon.net/fisherts/skirmishcampaigns/index.htm
These are awesome scenario books that have conversion tables for most game systems and scales. It also gives an Order of Battle so your forces laid out for you as well. The only thing that is giving my gaming group trouble is some of the larger tables required (6x4) on some of the scenarios. I really needed an excuse to build another table.
We are using Disposable Heroes and Coffins for Seven Brothers by Iron Ivan games, Nuts! by Two Hour Wargames and Troops, Weapons and Tactics by Too Fat Lardies. We are kind of rotating rule sets through at this point looking for the sweet spot in our WW2 fix.
Thanks for bringing that up, Hollywood!

Thanks for that link Beshkno. I've added it to the show notes so others can find it too.

I never knew about the Sri Lankan miniatures painting market!

I have to say that this episodes' "Didja Ever Notice?" was spot on. For me, the joy of getting promoted is not the money, not the responsibility, but the elimination of one more level above you of stupid jerk who can dump on you just because he's had a bad day and you are in the right place at the wrong time. This is that same idiot that he was talking about; the one that goes around never noticing the damage they cause because the ascribe it to others.

The miniatures painting industry in Sri Lanka interview was also fascinating. We have been conditioned to think that anything done for us in a third-world country is being conducted in a sweat shop under humiliating and dangerous conditions by young children (those small hands can really paint those fine details). It's nice to know that the service they provide actually helps the local community by giving out high paying (by local scales) jobs and steady work. Funny to see how the recession trickles down to that level though.

I enjoyed the episode. I had previously thought that Painted Figs was going to be either the stereotypical sweatshop or a couple of very OCD guys that would paint for peanuts. I'm very glad this turns out not to be the case.

Thanks to Hollywood, I'll have to convince one of my friends to buy Warhammer Invasion. It sounds like fun, but I abhor the whole deck building thing. However, going over to someone else's place where they have a deck awaiting me; that's something that I can get into.

It is with regret that I must register how much I h...pardon, how disappointed I am with the Black Library contest. As one of the legion of the damned that work the evenings and weekends that many others take for granted, it's hard to allot time to such things as awaiting some secret code that must be responded to in a rapid amount of time in order to have any standing in a competition. That, in and of itself, I might have been able to just sigh out my disappointment and been done.

Some of these necessary secret words might be delivered via that de-evolutionary agent dubbed Twitter? Perhaps it is for the best. After all, those that flock to it, seem to lack in the ability to communicate with meaning or grammar. It may just be that getting these Black Library texts might be all it takes for them to grasp to the language that is the mainstay of the United Kingdoms and United States's gaming communities.

Keep up the otherwise stellar good work.

Well, we've offered a wide variety of contests in the past. Some require skill in music, some in acting, some in poetry, and some in writing. I think it only fitting that we also offer a prize to those who are capable of leveraging technology to stay connected. ;-)

Don't worry, I'm sure a contest will return that will allow you to make use of your own unique tallents as well.

Thanks for listening!!

It's good to see how many people liked the Paintedfigs.com interview, and that it has been helpful for spreading the word about who we are and what its like out here.

The paintedfigs interview is really the only reason I listened to the 'cast. I don't tend to listen
to podcasts at all.
