I have a very small AT-43 white star army and was just wondering how hard it would be to convert them into IG or even SM peices with limited work envolved.

Well, for those of us not familiar with AT-43, it would be great to post pictures of your models. There's a hell of a lot of great converters here, but not all of them are familiar with AT-43.

I have some Red Blok Kolossus that I am using as the basis for my Ogryns, but I've not really begun work on them yet as I'm still settling some design issues on where I am going with them.

Red Blok make excellent IG. White Stars will work as well, but they seem like a better match for the Kasrkin(? the elites).

For IG - nothing a head and gun swap can't fix. You don't even need to go that far - just glue on some IG gear from the Cadian/Catachan sprues. Adding Cadian heads and lasguns, would help sell them as IG though. Keep in mind that AT-43 figs are a bit taller and less "heroically" proportioned (i.e. more realistically) than GW's figs. This works out fine since most GW heads are too big for their bodies, but look decent on AT-43 bodies. I think Forge World's Cadian heads are just about the perfect size for AT-43 figs, being a little smaller than their GW counterparts and very close to the size of AT-43 heads. You may need to file down the armored collar on that the White Stars have in order for helmeted Cadian heads to fit properly. Oh, and don't forget the Imperial Aquilas!

As for TacArms, they'd be hard to sell as Space Marines seeing as they look nothing like them. "Counts as" Ogryns (Guardsmen in power armor) might be a better idea.

Let us know what you come up with!

no conversion necessary short of possibly the rebasing (i think the at43 bases are bigger). you can now take every veteran squad with heavier armor (4+) that matches what the figs from white star have. the power armor suits (can't recall their name) can easily be ogryns while the smaller walkers (the ones that came in the original box) are sentinels. i actually bought a few of the really big walkers to use as leman russ tanks. you would just have to be consistent and logical with the weapons when you determine what they count as. the flamer looking one is.. you guessed it... a flamer. the giant lasers are lascannons.. etc. you might not get the weapons you want but at least there shouldn't be any problems.

Depending on how 'official' you want the army to look, you needn't necessarily do any converting at all.

In my view, as long as all the 'lasguns' look the same as each other, and are smaller than the multilasers (or whatever) they don't need to look like lasguns.

And so on.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
