Hey guys!

Lately I've been looking for a new 40k army and Im stuck between the Tau, Necrons and Space Wolves, but I cant decide between the three thats where you guys come in, I'lle give you reasons why I like each army and my worries about each one. Vote for which army you think and hte one with the most votes I'lle collect.

Necrons: Im not too sure about the Necrons, the figures are very nice and I like them the most, but they dont have a huge variety of paint schemes and they're apparently a bit Under-powered and confusing army at the moment until they're codex comes out.
Space Wolves: If I went Space Wolves they'de be my first ever SM army, although I like being different and everyone, has a SM army. The new figures are nice though and they look fun to play.
Tau: Im very keen on the Tau, I can come up with a creative colour scheme, they look fun to play, they're competative too, my only worries are that if I do go Tau I'de be fielding no Kroot and a pure shooty tau army may get a little boring.

Im just torn between the 3 tell me what you guys think!

I don't play Necrons, but I've played against them tonnes, and I know for a fact that they are boring as feth, suck ass, and that Warriors, which you absolutely must have as many as possible, look ugly as gak.

Space Wolves are cool, and I've fought them once, but don't exactly look like the most fun army to play, from what I saw.

Tau suck a bit, but from the games I've played against them, they definetly look fun to play, and are really fun to play against. And don't get rid of Kroot, they're so much better then Fire Warriors!

Thank you for that speedy reply Fafnir, Im definantely thinking of going Tau now, but we'lle see if any players that play any of those three armies have any more input.

Well, Space Wolves are cool, and just got a new Codex and buncha new models so you'll always have the benefit of an updated army to play with. However, whether or not you like their aesthetics/fluff is entirely up to you, since it pretty much dominates alot of peoples opinions on the Wolves (along with any other army, to be fair)

Necrons look really boring to me, and I dont think you'll get much enjoyment out of them, considering the cons you just listed especially.

From the sounds of it though you'll have more fun with the Tau, especially if you like their playstyle (who says you cant have Kroot? Take them anyway!), and a DIY Sept is always good to see. Also, railguns.

Play Tau - you seem to like them best.

I wouldnt really recommend Wolves, unless you want a knd of 'last stand' army, where your really powerful, but outnumbered most of the time, so basically the entire point of the army is to bumrush them to get into CC as quick as possible, but they're powerful so unless your going against orks or lots of CC-oriented chaos marines, then you only need about half of them to rape everything in sight lol. But they are different, and I can see the appeal for them, me personally i wouldn't go them.

Tau, you have a good amount of viable strategies, kind of expensive points wise for what you get, but over all, an experienced player can use them very effectively, but artillery is the bane of their existence.

Necrons, i would stay away from until they get a new codex, they currently are a little weird with the new rules, also pretty expensive, you'll be outnumberes alot as well

played
2nd Ed. Space Marines- Ultramarines (2000 pts)
playing
3rd Ed. Orks-Speed Freaks (2500 pts)
End of 3rd-5th Imperial Guard-Cadian 308th "Hell's Own" led by Colonel O'Grady, with support from a detachment from the 10th Armored division led by Knight Commander Pask, currently requisitioned by the Inquistion, until further notice (3393 pts, and growing)

Sounds like you like Tau the msot from your post. I'd go for that.
Really comes down to your play style you have the most fun with.

I agree with all the statements here though so far. Especially Necrons. While I love their fluff they are seriously gimped and boring to play.

Haven't played Tau but with the right build(s) can be pretty mean but I've never seen a Tau player not have fun with his army.

Haven't seen any SW armies so I can't say anything witty about them.

of the 3 i would pick space wolves. It has an up-to-date codex which can easily be turned into many good builds. Where as Tau and necrons struggle since they are such old codexs.

With Nids all but confirmed as the next 40k codex to be re-released you're going to be waiting at least till march-april for the next codex (and it could be any of the older codexs).

If you do pick necron or Tau it must be because you really like the models since they are going to be hard to fight with.
