Games Workshop has extended their free shipping on mail orders again. Details at this link. Here's a copy of the main text from the GW US website:

We offer two easy ways to receive free shipping:
- Place an order with a value over $15 if ordering from our US site or $20 if ordering from our Canadian site.
- Place an order of any value and choose to pick it up from your local Games Workshop store.

Placing an order with a value over $15 US or $20 Canadian:
1. Place $15.01/$20.01or more of items in your Shopping Basket.
2. Proceed to checkout.
3. Make sure your items are being delivered to a single US or Canadian address.
4. Place your order.

Place an order of any value and choose to pick it up from your local Games Workshop store.

Jeez, they've been "extending" it for months, why not just offer free shipping all the time?

It would be harder to reinstate it when people start buying again.

I have everything shipped to my local store, which is only 5 mins walk away. This service has always been free, and has the advantage that you can examine the goods immediately and reject them if there is a problem.

I use the free online shipping to buy stuff I normally can't get otherwise. I have a Chaos LR lying around that is now going to be an LRC for my marines. Plus now I can proxy 2 models for my army. Vulkan and Keshaan Shrike

The "only good for this month" part is only on the front page, if you look on their actual shipping page, it does not say when it will end. Nice gimmick to get you to buy that item now or pre-order now, while the free shipping is "still going on".

I did this exact thing last week... Ordered WD subscription and Ork Rokkits ($12 CDN). I received the rokkits on Friday, and my subscription starts at the end of December.

The free shipping to the store service is great and I use it all the time. However, if I can now get items sent to my house free that's even better at times. I ordered the Grombrindal In Space model today and am having it sent to my home. It's exactly the minimum $15 required for the free shipping deal.

Even for people who buy all their GW main products from mail order discounters or independent stores, those sellers usually can't sell GW Direct products, so personally I find the free shipping deal quite helpful for those items that must be ordered directly from GW.

Maelstrom has also started selling Direct Only items.

I placed an order with them. Both offer free shipping (at least for November), but taxes still need to be factored into the GWUS total. In Seattle, WA, that's about 9% sales tax. Total savings Maelstrom provides in the USA works out to be about $28% off GWUS pricelist.

Don't forget that if you're buying items in the US from somewhere overseas there's also a currency conversion surcharge on most if not all credit cards. This is usually about 3%.

If I buy from a mail order discounter it's usually The War Store in New York. His discount is a standing 20%, the shipping is a flat $5.95 no matter how large the order, and unless you live in New York there's no sales tax.
