Hi,

I'm wondering what the typical size of objective markers is. I remember reading once that most tournaments want 40mm bases, but I'd just like to confirm that. I don't plan on doing a tournament anytime soon, but I hope to start modeling my objectives sometime soon and would like to do it right the first time.

Thanks

The typical size I use is either mounted on a 25mm base and is about the size of a marine. Its usually a flag or something similar that is clearly visible on the table.

The gaming accessories kit (that neon green one) has flags of, i think, appropriate size.

But when it comes down to it, anything can be an objective marker as long as its clearly discernible on the table and not the size of a tank.

Does that help?

Cheers

Official rules for things like the Doubles Tournament state that an Objective Marker must not be larger than a 40mm base and must not edit the terrain on the table. e.g a Huge wall that provides cover cannot be an objective.

Hope that helps,

Depends on the tournament or group.
We have several that use the "several 40mm and at least one 60mm" sizings for objective markers.

Seems to only be the English who still have official GW tournament rules, though.

40mm square bases - the square shapes help them stand out on the battlefield in comparison to all the round bases.

I like the idea of a square base to stand out, but all mine are currently on 40mm round bases.

I have some marine casualties and some slave girls, and soon I'll have the Space Hulk casualty painted up too.

Ive used a mix of bases - 25mm square and rounds, 60 mm round... (examples http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-14062-2719_Darkkt%27s%20Objectives.html)

In some games a building/bunker is the objective - means a very focused game!

I dont play tournaments, but a mix of them seems to work in casual play, as you have a tactical decision - do I try to capture a small one (easier to defend) or a large one (meaning its easier to contest at least).
