I just don't get how this army can even be played on a competitive level.

It's unfortunate that they are cool on so many levels but aren't remotely good at anything.

Why ?

Because not everyone cares about winning. Anyway, Daemons are cool.

Demons like marines. Marines are crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Except for Space Wolves, too much gristle.

Daemons are a scary, scary army when built and played right. Off the top of my head Nurgle/Tallyman armies and Fatecrusher spam are very hard lists. Mono-Tzeentch also has great tricks up its sleeve to catch people off guard.

Daemons have some of the best units i nthe game point for point, and often end up with very powerful units for cheap (points wise) when compared to the toher codexes in the game.

Out of curiosity, what leads you to your assessment that they aren't good at anything? Why do you think they're not competitive?

As far as painting I think the deamons are top army to work on. As far as re-modeling, they are probably second to orks IMO. Playing, I dont think they are the top "tier" army in the game, but they can certainly beat any army in any scenerio, dice dependant. I think they are one of the most fun to play. The only army I enjoy more is Necrons.

Tallyman lists have a really hard time dealing with vehicles, which in the current environment makes them less than optimal.

They are a lot of fun to play, as they force you to improvise a lot.

My Khorne Daemons are anything but weak. In fact, I think my five MCs and spammed Bloodcrushers would like a word with you.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Not competative?
Bollocks!

Daemons are competative, just not 100% reliable lol.
Lets face it, they have cheese builds and basic spam lists, all of which can be made into stupidly strong builds.
the only thing that blunts them slightly is thier DS, which can change games, but if it goes 50% to plan its still highly effective. (i say this, ive yet to have any large problems)

You have to build them very carefully, but they definitely can make a good list. They have issues with tanks, but no more than orks or nids.

I didn't really bother being careful with building my Khorne list. I get a lot of big scary things and bumrush the enemy.

That said, I *do* make use of cover etc, but Khorne has always been about RIP AND TEAR instead of careful playing.

People in general don't like daemon armies because they are uncomfortable with an entire army that deep strikes. However the ability to deep strike your entire army means that deployment does not affect you at all and that in and of itself is a huge advantage.

You can build a hard hitting daemon army that is low in killpoints. At 1850 points I think a good daemon army should top off around nine units maximum.... So that is another huge advantage.

Daemon armies can be built to be very resilient, that also is another huge advantage... I can't think of another army that every model has an invulnerable save (except for the walker).

People say that daemons in general struggle with mech armies but that just tells me those daemon players are doing something wrong. Sure mechdar is tough but then again it's not popular either.

Personally I think daemons are the best army in currently in both 40k and fantasy but people have not figured out the 40k side. It's for the most part a completely new army with lots of new units and rules. It's hard to wrap your head around daemons.

Bad scatters and the wrong half coming in first can be greatly minimized. You need to know what order in hich to drop your units, how to split your army and you need some icons. It's not rocket science or gazing into a crystal ball by any means.

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

I have seen daemons work spectacularly well and fail spectacularly. Two different players one who knew how to build a list and one who didnt. Daemons are a very good army like said before not many have figured out how to play them in 40k as they have in fantasy.

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, its just a freight train coming your way!

I should tell you that we all play mostly dawn patrol scenario's in my area (around 400 to 800 points). Most of which are dominated by players who use mostly vehicles (mostly tanks) and MEQ's.

Ive found that having an army that deep strikes on smaller boards or tables is usually just a bad idea to begin. One bad scatter die roll at the beginning of the game means half your army is dead before even playing.

Well then play some regular missions at regular points

You have to know how best to select your spots where you drop. If you are consistently experiencing mishaps then obviously you are doing something wrong.

Also 400-800 point missions are not a good indication in general since most people play 1500+ lists.
