How many people use the Shokk attack gun regularly in their lists? What do you find it most useful for? what would you do if your opponent fielded one? how worried does it make you?
To contribute, I'm not a fan of facing it, i play CSM and its AP 2 pieplate gives me headaches. Having it on my side in a team game, the random strength+scatter with BS 2 is what gives me headaches instead
so what do you guys think of the SAG?

I havnt used one yet, but Ive heard both sides of the fence.
You roll for its STR and depending on what you roll, could either greatly help you, or greatly hinder you. Ive heard it taking out entire terminator squads..... then again I heard the whole game the mek missed lol.
Personally I think Id rather have a KFF then the SAG. Id take a big gunz crew using Zzap guns instead lol

I used it in a RTT tournament with success. I played a Big Mek/KFF, Big Meg SAG, 9 kans, 1 dredd, 90 boyz, snikrot, gretchin. The SAG and 19 gretchin babysat an objective on the second or third floor of ruins. The range and AP2 of the SAG was great--especially killing terminators--and for putting wounds on daemon princes, etc. I was lucky in never having a bad roll with it. It was with a grots and holding an objective (in most games).

Heh. Mine fired my mek into a carnifex in the early days of the codex. I'll get it out again sooner or later, probably if I ever get around to building the Shooty Ork army I was pondering.

lol i can vouch for wiping out whole termie squads from the recieving end of that shot pretty easy to roll 6+ to give you 2+ wounds at AP 2, and a double 6 is great fun but why big gunz with Zzap guns instead? i found them to be kinda crap at the end of games =\
I like the idea of a group of grots to soak wounds/cap point with the Big Mek. My friend usually has the SAG chilling with a squad of lootas

SAG is a fun bit of gear but very, very unreliable.
It never failed to roll double 5's for me when I bothered trying it out. A mek with a big, expensive shooty thing teleporting into CC with the target unit is a huge waste of points.
Field it only when playing for lulz.

Orks need AP2, or rather they do not necessarly need it but that is where they can take it. Take it, it is a great weapon.

Protecting it with a group of Grots is probably the best way to field it, although I understand that fielding it with an Artillery unit can have its advantages.
One game I played, I rolled snake eyes on turn 1, taking out a Trukk, and a full battery of Lootas. Lost the game after that.
Another game I played, I rolled boxcars on turn 1 and took out a full unit of Terminators and a Warlock. I won the game after that.
The truth is, you've got a decent chance of things going wrong, and it scatters an average of 5". It's tough to hit the right target with the thing. When it goes wrong, it goes very wrong. When it goes right, it's very worth it.
What I like best about the SAG is that it's full of Orky flavor. I don't care so much about winning, so I usually field the SAG.

I want to try it, it's the best supporting gun the orks have, BUT it's quite random.
If I were to field it, I would stick the mek in a squad of grots, and also give him a burna, so if he teleports himself into close combat against something in powered armor, he can do something before he dies.
