- First of all, I couldn't find anything using the search button -

So, I was thinking about getting some necrons, because they just look freakin awesome. I looked at the package and saw the green gun thingy (dunno it's name =@) and I was wondering, would I also be able to paint that green thingy red or blue?

And If I was, how?

Thanks

Are you talking about the somewhat transparent green tube in the weapons?

Yes you can paint the tubing in the gauss weapons. But you would need to coat them with a gloss varnish to get the shiny look that the green plastic already has.

How about buying different colors? Available here: http://www.games2trains.com/auctionsearch.php?posted=1&satitle=necrons&exactany_hp=exact&country_hp=all&category=0&itemsearchokX=Go

You could also try dyeing the tubes of the gauss weapons. Keep the transparency but change the shade. Here is something I found after a quick search:

More could probably be found with a more thorough search.

Or, if you don't feel like playing chemist, you can buy translucent acrylic tubes in the appropriate size for the weapons and cut to fit the length. That may be a better route to go.

Hope this helps. And post pics for whatever method you choose (dyeing, painting, whatever).

Cheers

NecronLord3 has a good suggestion.
But if you are doing a large number of them, cutting a rod of acrylic may be more cost effective.

Wou can paint them with washes, they will loose some of the transparentiness but its like the easiest solution.
