So after my comment in the "what could take Down a space marine?" thread I have decided to make a homegrown rule for using peices of wire/string in your freindly games or at you FLGS if your opponent allows you (A deathwing player certainly wont!)

Before I start I must stress that this was never meant to be a serious rule but a rule to create some humor in a game that I feel is taken much to seriously I mean come one they're only little plastic figures it's not like they're real troops. Now I have that out of the way here it goes:

Rule: Sneaky peice of wire/string.
This rule only affects models in TDA, Mega Nobz, and any models with the slow and purposeful rule.
The peice of string/wire is stretched between two terrain peices. The distance between the terrain determines how much damage the models take: 1"-6" = S6, 6"-12" = S5 12" + = S4. Roll a D6 on the result of a 3+ the models have been tripped up by the wire and the model/squad and takes the hit automatically (normal saves apply). If the squad has been sucessfully tripped up in the controlling players movement turn roll a D6 on the roll of a 5+* the squad gets back on it's feet and can move as normal but if this is failed then the squad counts as moving through difficult terrain but has a -1 modifier to their highest roll.

Well that's it I hope you have a good time playing with these rules. I plan to use them next time I face The Good Uruk lol but don't tell him!

P.S. thanks for taking the time to read this!

c&c welcome.

*Add +1 to every roll after the first turn that they were tripped.

Umm...what were you thinking when you wrote this?

A Terminator would not be tripped by a string, it would snap it and march on. This rule is quite useless.

Lighten up valk!

Maybe its a laser, or an invisible metal pole of some super metal polymer. Maybe there are mines under the ground that blew up and tripped the models.

One thing that would be helpful is a specific lists of units its works again. Maybe something like 'models with a 2+ save' or 'any infantry model that costs 20 points or more each' or some other definite instead of 'any models in armour that may be cumbersome' as that could be vague.

Vague yet fluffy, Phoenix lord armour/artificier armour, give a 2+ armour save, yet they wouldn't be that cumbersome.

IMO good idea, could use some sort of a list as to who is affected though, necrons move slowish, would they all get done?

Edited the OP but need ideas as to what would be tripped. I've got: TDA,MA and anything with the SaP rule. Suggestions?

In the Webway.

Lol, perhaps you could give a special rule to a unit who could 'trap' that piece of terrain. Also why are only models with 2+ armour save affected?? it should be all models. Finally i think that if they're running when they get tripped thier hit is at +1 str.

The running is a good idea..... But all models would be silly. Could you imagine a dread being tripped up by string

Yes, remember in Empire Strikes back where they trip up the AT-ATs with cable from the snow speeders?

OMG your right... maybe they could take a glancing hit or something as well as falling down? What do you guys/rare girl think?

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

maybe it should be the trip wire entangles the unit and prevents them from moving further that turn, force a pinning test??. and the wire should only be used once. after the unit has gotten untangled the wire is gone, if a vehicle of any type moves through it the wire is removed.

prehaps it would force a dangerous terrain test on walkers, potential immobilized. other vehicles would be unaffected.

AT-ATs have 40foot long legs, Dreds are boxes with 6 foot legs and they have arms. AT-ATs shoulden't walk at all dreds are far more stable. wire should only be able to immobilize walkers not destroy weapons.
